awesome just read through the whole thread and really really nice i love the look of carbon roofs and i wanted one for mine but how do you stand with the msa, i thought it was a definate no go which is why chose not to
No idea to be honest. I wanted to get rid of the sunroof mechanism and it seemed a logical idea. As mentioned earlier a mate of mine who is a scruitineer reckons that somethings are 50/50 with regards to regs but the overall integrity of the car is good enough to pass. While I would like to enter some sprints and hillclimbs I'm not really bothered about what class I'm entered into as I just want to have fun and use the car as much as possible, I'm not taking it too seriously, as long as I can have fun
Having fun is what it's all about my mate has a sunroof that i plated over on his mk1 when I owned it and wants to cut it all out and go carbon, but were unsure on the regs they do certainly look very nice shame you can't make it to inters in it
Yeah International is impossible now. Won't be much longer now although I've been saying that for the last month!
Cheers, it isn't quite finished yet, still lots of details to finish. I prefer the Speedline Challenge's but they only come in 16s and that's probably too big. Compomotive MO's are an obvious choice. Nic
More good news, spent a day yesterday tidying up wiring and doing those little bits and pieces. 5 o clock last night we got to the point of turning the key, connected the battery up and no wires decided to melt, no electrical fires started and we breathed a sigh of relief. Next up was turning the key, a disappointing click was all we got, played about with a few earths, rechecked everything and still nothing. Day was dragging on so we had to leave it for the night, frustrating. Rechecked everything this morning, a couple of small adjustments and the starter clicked in to life, built up the oil pressure, reconnected the fuel pump relay to allow fuel in to the metering head, so far so good, turned the key and eureka first turn of the key it started!
Finally saw this in the flesh and I have to say it is a credit to Nic's time and effort. Beautiful job Nic.
