Whole front panel is now removable and held on with rivnuts, and the front crossmember is also removable. Chuffed to bits with the work so far :)

Thanks [:D] I think the whole car is gonna turn out a bit mad as there's still lots to do and so far their work is surpassing my expectations!

Think the rear seat area is next for the chop. Pics as and when they appear :)

I'm seeing loads of bits of inspiration in this build. Kamei, Gayton Hayot, raised top mounts, 16valver/vw_singh etc

Liking the front panel - the one-piece VW tin - being completely removable, with no blasted OEM crossmember behind it. Really transforms the packaging possibilties. Loads of future headaches being solved with the intercooler and rad install done

What is the purpose of the ridged steel on the outside of the inner wings?

Yep, ideas and inspiration from all over, thrown together into one car! I gave them the idea for the front (being removable), but they've done it differently to the way i'd imagined, although not complaining as i think its brilliant! The bars down from the turrets to the chassis legs were supposed to curve outwards and tie into the inner wings, but they thought it'd be stronger the way they've done it.

Like i said, they've got a bit of free-reign but contact me regularly to discuss before they go ahead and do anything.

Only the oil cooler to package in the front end, so yes, lots of headaches already been solved! Just got to decide on the front panel design.

The bit on the inner wing I think was to replace some rust and looks like they've just added a bit of strength to them. I didn't even ask them to do all the stitch welding but they have done! They're very enthusiastic about the project which i think is great.[:D]

I know whats still to be done so watch this space as there's plenty more in store ;)

Sweet! Those lads deffo know what they are doing, fabrication skill looks very good

Just tell them to stuff something into i/c pipes to stop any dirt/grinding/welding bits getting into it!

Few more update pics. Minor jobs at front end finished:

Then its onto rear seat area:

The battery sits on the O/S, so the exhaust box will sit opposite, and the tailpipe pop out here:

Think the pics are a bit behind, as just the arches and boot floor left to do now.

The formed ridges in the rear seat area panel look good. Must be a clever metal bending machine they have

The only issue is I do believe this vehicle will in future belong to the 8-valve Appreciation Society! I will have to try to temper my enthusiasm once the mill appears!

Plenty of time to change allegiances and change plans!

Best consult Pastor Ventil for impartial advice however
