Sure it will look great when you're done but looks like a hell of a lot of work and it dosen't go any faster! glad I went for the minimalistic look in my mk1
Conversely, I'm no fan of cars without dashes. My car will always have a dash, even if I make an eggshell lightweight lookalike, as per the WRC cars.
less is more! I know what you mean Chris, but the standard design does look quite dated now IMO and obstructs the view if you run the seat low, a bespoke one off dash would look the dogs. Are you getting it flocked Gill?
some progress . managed to get the old dash and a new screen and re fittedt he cage today . had issues in our workshop so have no time to finish some bits i wanted to do . got a few bits to do tomorrow as i have a mot next week new hubs to fit headlights back in bonnet latches to refit and a oil pipe from the cooler to replace
done everything i was planning to do today to less on my shoulders "thank god" only thing to do now is wire up the guages and run the engine up to temp . oh ordered my omex ecu too . just waiting on a manifold for mt bmw throttle bodies
well had a hectic week . managed to move all my stuff out of the workshop and back home . and the old nail passed the mot yesterday happy days . just need to sort out 2 new oil cooler pipes as mine have chaffed threw . taxed it today and put some freah petrol in it and went for a spin good fun !
guess most of you know but the engine went pop chasing a porche around combe got a 6a yesterday and planning to run it std for the rest of the years track days . whilst building another 9a for the bodies . got to get the head looked over by mr shed , and the crank by hotgolf . fingers crossed they will be ok . stripped all the rubbish off the 6a today , man theres loads of odd audi bits on it . now im left with just the block and head . and need to fit all my bits and a cambelt and tensonior onto it which will not take long at all , and i managed to get a complete cerpintine set up for the other engine and some cool break away loom bits .
yeh was gutted about it to be fair but there is no point in crying about it . got some pics i will put up
sorry to hear mate, looks pretty spectacular - do you know the cause? time for an abf? thier indestructable!!!
got a 6a mate . and enough bits to build another 2l over the next few months . i think the cause was ring break up
What you want is even more spares Martin. Got a great ABF engine and ancillaries sitting in an Ibiza shell. Really sorry to see it has blown up again.
gutted dude, you have bad luck at combe clearly, glad to hear your just getting on with it though. Iv gathered loads of spares for when mine gives up but I just cant kill it......any tips
