Excellent. Good job its been so mild this year, means people are still able to crack on with their projects/maintenance.

Few more bits done, all parts down to bare metal, etch primed and painted satin black. CAE box plate cleaned up and scotched as it was looking a bit crusty.

Only got the starter in etch and ran out of time.

quick one, you might want to change that gearbox tin plate for a later one, as it has a removable section at the bottom which makes removing the sump bolts much easier :)

Cheers, didn't know there was one. With this plate it is tricky even with 'cap' head bolts in the sump.

Do you have a part number for the later plate? Would it be the same as fitted to a mk3 2l 8v ? Cheers

yeah its the same as mk2/3 1.8-2.0 ones, obv you need the little half moon piece from the bottom to go with it :)

upper is 068103621E, lower is 068103648K

I reckon it'll be around 3kg... just by looking at it ;) .... and because that's what the Hotgolf ones I have weigh in at.

Almost got all the bits to put her back together, just waiting on Sachs clutch and got to pick the gearbox up from TSR on Sat if the snow is kind to me! Last few bits blasted, now painted :)

Bro came good with these bolts! Only needed a couple! M6 are stainless from his own stash [:D]

Water pump, stat and inlet gasket turned up from GSF, by the way offer10 still works as a 10% discount code ;)

Next update should show some decent progress! (I hope!)

I wonder what the weight of all that extra paint on your car bits would be? Looks very nice though!
