Would be pretty but I had to fill some big gaps and TIG isn’t my strong suit

Toying with the idea of bringing it home… Means I can work on it in the evenings and get it finished but I need somewhere to store it ideally

Well.. it looks like it may be coming home on Saturday morning. I’ll leave it at work, but hopefully get it running/moving within the week… even if it’s just RWD for now.

Just finished reading through your thread. Great work so far man. I'm also in the same boat as you doing the 4wd mk2 but with a 24v turbo. Great to see some of the bits you have done different to me. Brilliant job so far.

Thanks! It’s been a slog and it being so far away hasn’t helped at all.
I look forward to seeing yours!

Well she’s got her little coat on, more to stop water getting in than anything.

    Next week, the fun begins

1: make it lock and make it water tight - door seals, new roof gutters, door handles, door membrane (what are people using for this?)

2: brakes, make brackets for my bias valves, finish routing handbrake cables, bleed system and the clutch.

3: finish putting the engine together, make brackets for PAS bottle, intercooler, build an inlet, wire it up.

4: fit fuel tank, run lines.

5: make front shafts, CV boots all round, install makeshift haldex controller.

5: finish the interior wiring and button up the last bits of the interior.

6: will it start? Make sure everything works, boom. MOT time.

There’s probably loads I’ve missed but hey..

Yeah I have one of them built, but not installed at the moment.

Adam Forbes on Facebook has designed his own one that uses canbus (he’s asking £150) but I don’t have the TT loom for the diff nor do I know what else from that loom is needed, if it’s just can hi-lo, power and ground that’s easy but if it’s more then it becomes a bit of a pain.

Thanks, can’t complain for £10. A bit much for 2 doors but hey!

Well I went fishing and found so many parts for my car!

But I can’t find the passenger door handle. So I’ll buy one of them sets on eBay for cheeeeep and recode the lock to match my key until my door handle comes up.

It’s my birthday tomorrow so I may treat myself to a couple of hours after work get it water tight and mostly lockable.

I made a set of door membranes out of Visqueen (looks same as above link), 17 years ago an they are still in perfect condition. Still nice and pliable.
