with my vectra imploding at every corner, its proving difficult. I have half of december off and will be getting commission by then so expect big things (like an mot )
If you need an extra pair of hands from a local give me a shout aswell, never turn down chance to fettle a MK2.
cant believe in April it will be a year weve had it and we did 98% of it in 12 weeks!!! Amazing how your time gets taken up by other stuff. We have been collecting bits, and going to get stuck into it now.... enough's enough
wahooo, progress is being made. We have been compiling parts and have a big day sat planned to get most of it done other than battery relocation. Bits needed before we try for MOT again are as follows: 1) Fit new seats 2) Make some door cards out of plastic and fix on (free from mike's work!) 3) fit top half of dash and mount clocks/switches 4) Fit new handbrake cables 5) sort out rear brake bias (possibly need an inline pressure reducer?) 6) Re-locate battery into rear passanger spot 7) fit new thermostat, flush coolant system and fit new exp tank hose and re-fill 8) engine flush, change oil 9) Fit new air box 10) wire a fan switch into the dash 11) sort out electrics for headlights 12) fit new grill 13) buy new number plates Target is to drive it to the curborough sprint thing (just to watch though)
That's a couple of weekends' work - you should target to drive it on track at curby - it's not too demanding, there are good run-off areas, and it's not too far to get home.
^^ yeah not massive amounts and most the bits are bought. Its already full up, if we get it done quickly and can get some road miles under the belt then will stick ourselves down on the reserve list..
few little updates with crap pictures.... we had bought an 8v gti airbox as the ABF was too wide, but it had some heavy gay bosch thing on top and was more work than the ABF to sort as taking the bosch thing out meant the pipe from the TB then wasn't long enough so we chose to hack the side of the ABF off, then use a bit of the offcut to cover the bit above the filter and 'proffessionaly' duck tape the bugger up will go over it with black tape pre mot so it looks better. Induction noise now much nicer means we can use the correct isv feed now (is on now just not in pic) also got a ford escort expansion hose for pennies, and a new plastic scuttle tray so we dont have water leaking into the footwell soon as it rains anymore most exciting bit is the 'new' bucket seats, cobra clubmans with mk2 subframes now we have a wonky numberplate, grill hanging off and open bonnet (we are making headway promise!!!)
P.S also fitted new handbrake cables, but we still have way to much pressure at the rear wheels so need to fit an in line reducer prior to the bias valve? or just get a better bias valve? whats your thoughts?
Coming along nicely mate. Great bodge on the airbox btw LOL Im loving the new bucket seats. Want as set for mine sometime soon. So will i be seeing it at Inters in june then?
Good to see you guys making progress, after all the problems you've been having. Let me know if you still need any ABF parts
Mines got standard rear brakes, with Wilwood bias valve and inline reducers (one per side), works a treat! The Wilwood on its own was not enough to stop the rears locking first.
EZ thanks for that, where did you get the inline reducers? In a way im happy as means the bias valve wasn't wasted money. Can I run just one reducer pre bias valve do you think? as its only split underneath the car and wouldnt be able to cut two in there easily?
if not, Im going to give up, sell up and buy a corsa and focus on putting led washer jets and stuff like that
