I believe you can leave it cable change with the o2a gearbox, dunno what model they came on though[:$]

O2A is the 16V / VR6 box which is cable change and has the hydraulic pedal box. 8V is still rod change and clutch cable

Ibiza 2.0 16v and Cupra Sport have the cable change 02A box with Cable Clutch mechanism. It uses a cable system to push the hydraulic cylinder into the bell housing instead of hydraulic lines. This system can be used on the VR6 Mk2 conversion instead of doing the extra pedal box work, however, the clutch is very heavy. Eventually i would like to change mine to hydraulic clutch.

Nice 1! basically putting the vr6 into my car is similar to putting it into a mk2 where the gearbox is concerned.

    Some further updates.

Back end pretty much finished off and ready for primer

Fuel tank and fuel lines etc out to allow safe grinding / welding. We have some work to do underneath the car and the rollcage to weld in

Also a few more bits chopped out

Seat rails removed, a few little bits to patch but nothing major

    Shifter out

Something a bit taller and more aesthetically pleasing to go here once it arrives and the hole is plated over

Also the driveshafts etc have been removed and getting ready to whip the engine at the weekend

Box is booked in to get the diff and FD fitted the end of April so it is getting there slowly...

    Cheers mate.

Dropping the gearbox off on Thursday so just need to get cracking in the shell and fitting the cage.

Would like to get it finished for autum time but will just have to see what happens. Not going to rush it as want it done right.

Colour is definitely changing as had the car over 4 1/2 years now so time for a change.

Well I was down at Stealth Thursday / Friday last week with a mate who was getting Schricks fitted to his R32, so managed to drop off the box and pick up some new bits.

I finally got my RR graph from last years mapping session. Will try to get the graphs scanned in. When we 1st got it on the rollers the Schrick inlet manifold was not working properly due to us not plumbing the vacum pump in correctly, so there is a comparison between the engine running on the long inlet tracks permanetely and then after with the flap opening and it working properly.

Big thanks to Vince and John @ Stealth who have always been a great help with the car, and did above and beyond what was expected of them last year when sorting it for mapping. Top guys

    The after figures were...

    FLY:
    226bhp @ 6190rpm

    WHEELS:
    184bhp

    TORQUE:
    210lb ft @ 3640rpm

Not bad for a N/A 'boat anchor'!

Whilst I was down I ordered the Quaiffe ATB and picked up my new Helix clutch:

Also picked up most of the bushes needed for the chassis rebuild, just need to order new fitting kits needed for the Eibach ARBs and power steering bushes:

Tilton bias valve and bulkhead fittings arrived for the new brake system:

Still a fair bit of work to do on the shell but it will get there.

    Thanks,

    Martin

have you polly bushed yours before of do you still have the old ones to contend with removing?! took me an age to get the rears out at the weekend!

i use the same bias controller and it works great, sometimes think a leaver would be better though as the knob takes quite a few turns but guess it gives really fine adjustment.

congrats on the figures, good stuff!

Ye the poly bushes were done about 4 years ago everywhere apart from the steering rack and front subframe, so hopefully wont be too bad a job. There was alot of swearing when they were done originally and that was with the two of us doing it. Thought it would be best to replace them whilst the car was in bits.

Will see how the bias valve is, but wanted a knob type one as a few friends have the lever type and they are quite easy to accidently knock.

Was pretty pleased with the figures, although always planning for more

A plan has already been hatched

We will see how quick it is on track when I get it back together then take it from there. Really hoping to enter some of the sports and saloon championship next year so don't want it to be the slowest car [:$]

Just to wrap up the twin headlight design discussion on page 8, it seems the ones the rally cars used were Votex - DAVE 2227 has just posted this ad here, and confirmed that's what they were.
