Just to answer the question about brakes and what size the wheels are, must be 15"+

My opinion on narrow tracking a mk1 golf is that its quite simply retarded and is the exact reason why other forums rip on the vw show scene, just my opinion thou:)

    I also abhor Google.

It is not a relational database. So it is sad. Very, very, sad.

Feck. I was writing relational database software, in Fortran 4, on an ICL 1900, when you weren't even a twinkle, in anyone's eye!

    Why should I?

"They all laughed at Chris. Columbus when he said the world was round! They all laughed when Edison invented sound."

Look, people actually believe Edison actually invented sound. Why should I bother?[:s]

Every time I've tried to impart knowledge on here I've been poo-pooed.

Did you know that Stephen Fry has written a book about how to talk like Stephen Fry?

Don't forget, I'm madder than he is, and I have the Irish Certs. to prove it! Thing is he still gets paid loads 'o money and I don't!

    So, why bother?

EDIT: Madder is a colour. I am mader than Stephen Fry! He is not hetrosexual. I am very so!

On the topic of Stephen Fry, could someone tell him to bugger off Dave's TV?

Rubbish, trivia and awkward inunendo on QI - who the hell watches it?

This thread may need a tidy!

we only want the best for your conversion. We've come over a bit negative due to a lot of stupid ideas cropping up in the VW scene. I'd look up alan staniforths string computer or find an online suspension simulator and look into all the potential issues. We'd be genuinely interested to see what you come up with.

wide wheels and lots of camber change would be nasty on the limit

i used to use a computer programme at uni to calculate this stuff but cant remember the name of the program, i do remember that it wasnt very good though !!! because it basicall took tyres as being solid with no give, which tyres do obviously have.

i came on here hoping for some helpful advice which some people have given (ackerman angle, info on drilling bigger disks), to them thanks, but unfortunately some clowns have not been so helpful !!! i dont think its a stupid idea !!

i just want my car to be as good as possible !!!! it is running now so i will have it on the road soon, then i plan to try the adjustable arms/top mounts i am getting made !!!!

If you are getting new inner and outer dishes made, why do you need to shorten the wishbones and narrow the track? You can get the new dishes made to create and ET that works around the std bodywork.

You state some people on here, possibly including myself are clowns. That is a bit harsh and generally not the sort of behaviour seen on this forum.
Just remember, you started this thread, and everyone tried to interpret what you were trying to accomplish based on very little information. For you still not to give accurate wheel diameter and width on the 4th page kind of makes it somewhat harder and frustrating for folk to give help. Some might think you are a [:o)]
