Must have been hard to part with it, I shed a tear when my Polo was driven away [:^(] Hope you don't regret selling it a few months down the line Alan
omg! tell me this is a wind up / your have a better reason for selling it / your mate is gonna join up and turn out to be you / all 3! [:^(]
That mk1 was kinda like the billabug of the watercooled scene. Those who know billabug know that's about the biggest compliment I could pay it.
lets see the vids pretty daunting reading this tbh, knowing that i havent started mine properly yet. but i understand what you say about them never being finished. good luck with the next project which will be equally as impressive im sure neil.

Ah, I wondered why it wasn't at Donny last weekend... Well, what can I say? It made an utterly unique contribution to the VW scene. From show-stopping cover car back in 1999, developed through to the hard-core track car it is today. I remember the sound of it way back in Feb 2000 at TSR's rollers. Something else. It could still sit on a show & shine / concours today, yet it will set some stunning times on track and make mincemeat out of nearly every saloon or hatchback you put near it. The quality of craftmanship takes some believing - home-made 'glass bonnet & boot, airbox etc. It stands tall amongst a very select few VAG cars in this scene that truly, truly kick ass. And I hope Paul knows where it belongs: being driven to an ever appreciating crowd.
you have created the best MK1 ever graham, in all of its guises, both as a show car and as a show/track car, the attention to detail and skills you poses have allowed you to create an amazing piece of engineering, looking forward to see what you come up with next with your new motor,,
Here is a video from about 2002, even though this car wasn't built for this sort of thing it is very good at it. http://www.wussel.org.uk/video/mad%2020v%20sprint.wmv
Thanks again all, after reading all this its making me think if i did the right thing or not. New car wont be a track racer just a sensible road car, but my idea of sensible might not be the same as everyone else .
Sad to hear about it G.. Still remember the look on matey's face at Donny BAT day with the TVR when we sat on his ass all the way down the back straight Hope you find the right next new toy you're after
