cabbyr32: yes this guide covers any mk4 type loom they're all pretty much the same :)

bbb: if you slide the purple lock tabs out the side of the ecu the pin holders pull out the back. then if you look closely at them the pin numbers are labelled on each corner :)

ah the bigger pins you mean? if you look closely at the ecu plug there are pin numbers printed on there too, you may need to clean the plug off a bit

    brake switch:
1 - permanent live feed, splice this to old brake switch red/yellow wire
    2 - ignition live
    3 - ecu pin 65
4 - ecu pin 32 and also splice to old brake switch red/black

    clutch:
    1 - ignition live
    2 - ecu pin 66

    Hi all

As you can probably notice by my lack of posts I'm new. First off just want to say thank you this site has helped no end with reasearch mechanical and electrical.

Now I'm planning a to drop a Agu into a mk2 scirocco and I'm now pretty clued up on how to do this even the wiring doesn't seem to daunting ( after reading this thread, the fuse box faq and many others)

So I haven't actually purchased a car yet waiting to find one with low rust (if this is possible)
Any how me being me went on the bay and found my self an engine loom from a mk2 scirocco
    scala gtx 1.8 8v.
So the loom arrived and today I have started to decipher the wiring using the fuse box faq
So I have the 29 white pin plug which I can identify
But it's these two 9 pin plugs that are confusing me
    image_zps1d5a8571_1.jpg

Me being a naive fool have probably brought the wrong thing.
If any one could shed some light on this would be greatly appreciated.
I just can't seem to see where on a ce1 fuse box it goes.
Many thanks in advance. Please excuse my newbieness. Just trying to learn.

yes those are relay holders, quids in you have 2 of them 1 can be used for your ecu relay

check the wire colours, one is probably the coolant level sensor control relay which needs a 42 or 43 to fill it. This one will have red/yellow and/or blue/yellow coolant temp, black or black/yellow ign live, brown earth and red/brown to level sender.

the other will probably be for the idle boost control relay, it will have red/black for rev counter, black or black/yellow ignition live and brown earth wires plus some off to the bay (brown/black and brown iirc) for the boost valve. this one is no longer needed so re-purpose for ecu relay :)

Thanks for the quick reply guys.
    This has restored my confidence.
I will check wire colours and post them up later when in from work.

So am I right in thinking that I just need to use the White 29 pin plug plus the few other small connectors for
    All this to work?
Will be striping loom covering off at the weekend and labelling up wires. Then off to scrapy to find
    An agu loom.
    Thanks again for quick reply.

yeah the white plug is the main fusebox plug, you keep the wiper loom as is then its just a few wires for the oil and water sensors, rev counter and an ign live for your ecu relay trigger.

theres the d/13 pin to add for the fuel pump relay trigger if you decide to run a 67/80/167 relay in the fusebox slot, but you can chop one out your old engine loom plug if need be. a sharp knife makes short work! gettign the small ce1 pins out even with a pro tool is a right sod so I would just chop one out if i were you. I do have part numbers for new pins if you have a decent set of crimpers mind
