So the crash bar has been modified for a little more strength and flow thanks to JJ @ R-Tek Motorsport,
Cheers mate! At the minute it's just sat in the garage so we can refer to it when we plug everything in. Will be up for sale soon though, ecu, loom, box and engine.
I would realy like to but in a 24v into my vr6 project as it is a bit less comon just did not see any 24v when looking. Hope it all goes well let me know when its up for sale please.
It is a great engine, already know I'm going to miss it, the smoothness and sound especially.lol. As you said though, they are quite rare, already had a few people asking. Will let you know when it's ready for sale.
As far as I know it may only have been for the 4motion for some reason. Possibly the sharan but that may have been 12v.
good luck with that ps i think your car is immo 2 like mine i think defeating the immobiliser is probably the only way forward if you want to keep the keys and clocks you have how are you going to do the haldex out of interest looks like it coming along nicely
Cheers mushy! We'll be immo defeating it at first and seeing if there's any way around to keep the clocks and keys. To be honest no idea on the haldex side of things, I'm leaving that up to R-Tek Motorsport to figure out as my knowledge is no way near as high as theirs. Their philosophy seems to be "if it can be done it will be done"
Few parts have arrived including the silicone pipes and the FIA approved 100 cell cat: Will be used with a 3" pipe and no silencers to start with, if its too loud ie over 95(ish)dB i'll throw a silencer in there too.
I had a CAT like that in the Corrado and it lasted all of about 500miles. Ended up breaking it up and getting a v-banded one from GT3 turbo which seems to be lasting. http://www.gt3turbo.com/Merchant/product.php?productid=465&cat=370&page=1 You also get a pipe to replace it for non MOT applications. http://www.gt3turbo.com/Merchant/product.php?productid=466&cat=370&page=1
Yes I am, I would have gone with a de-cat but I'm still keeping to the FIA approval guidelines as much as possible as there are a number of series I could still enter in it. Cheers for the links coullstar! I'll see how this one goes, was quite cheap anyway, and if not have a look into those.
Indeed we can. Actually already bought the main hoops for the cage, just waiting for some time to do it. There's a few things like RCN at the Ring, VW Cup possibly, and the obvious of Time Attack. No plans as yet to enter but leaving the door open so I can if I want.
Not much really been happening of late, looked for an interior loom, found one, ordered it, went away for a week expecting it to have arrive when I got back but had an email saying it had been cut so was basically out the picture. Have just found another one and hopefully this one will be fine and uncut. Hopefully this will get the ball rolling again.
Sooo...progress... stripped and took out the dash for access to the wiring. Off with the steering wheel, clocks, radio cage etc: Then JJ @ R-Tek Motorsport fabricated this piece of art. We got a little excited when we were thinking of size (before the engine was in) and said to make it out of 84mm pipe! Now there's not that much space but with a lot of patience and skill he got this mocked up:
It runs! Running off the single ECU, clocks work, diagnostics work, off one plug, been mapped to 300ish, exhaust has been built up but now needs a silencer as its loud, very loud! And boost pipes plugged in, all that's needed now are a few breather hoses then the coolant pipes plumbing, I figured they may be of some use. I have to give so much credit to JJ @ R-Tek Motorsport, the guys a genius and a nutter in a good way. If he wants it to work he'll get it working, and do it well!
