So my brother has seen the light and realised a Bentley continental GT that's ten years old will have to many risks :thumbd:
So we're thinking of trading in my 59 A6 and putting in 25k between us to get a RS6 [:D]

What are the pros and cons regarding purchase and running costs servicing and expensive jobs like timing belt changes etc ?

Comments please so our dream doesn't become a nightmare :o

Like all things it probably won't happen but I'd really appreciate any advice

    Thanks

I guess it's like any car, if you can afford to buy it you can afford to run it.

RS6 must be one of the best cars ever??

    I like that comment

    Mike,
If you always wanted to own one and accept the risks go for it.

Yes but psychologically I could cope with spending that much buying a car but if it costs 2000 a year on maintaining it that freaks me out [:s]

I think you have to be prepared for that mike with a RS6
Don't think much things go wrong with them but when they do it's going to cost

Gearbox's is one of that things

C5 ? Was it still a C5 when they had the facelift? It'd be a 09, 10 or 11 probably I'd have to see what my mate could wangle off his audi management friends;)

    V10 TFSI brum brum [:D]

On gearboxes what's the best ? Or is it only the DSG box ?

Dare I say just fianance a new one? Then all maintenance stuff is taken care of.

And it has to be an Avant surely!

Maintenance costs on RS stuff is expensive like most performance cars.

I'd rather someone else loose the 15,000 pounds a year for the first three years thanks [:s]
I got my A6 Avant TDIE when it was six months old with 1500 miles on it for 10,000 less than its list price :o
40,000 pays for a lot of repairs lol

That's like charging your new 600 iPhone on a dodgy 3 cable than a 15 genuine one , oops I've done that [:s]

But a 1000 for Perelli rubber can feel a bit steep [:s] that's for my current A6 , but you wouldn't pay Jenson Button to drive you around in a black cab lol

Deep pockets needed on spares i think the numeric after the RS is the multiplication factor when your buy parts from the dealers , even silly thing like pipes have eye watering costs

Would love one however and not a TDI :-)

    1000nm Huummmmm

Did an MRC rolling road day a while back and there was a 780ps C6 there. What an absolute monster. Owner was a bit of an animal and bragged about over 200mph on the A14 one night. Questionable ethics.. but I don't doubt the figures. My Money-No-Object all-purpose Q car of choice, not much around to match it.
