Usually does the trick. Stops the oil from penetrating your stomach lining as well, should you swallow any.
well this was a dead thread the other day now look at it, the engine will probably come out then, looks easier to fit the next box back on once its in a stand. just hope the guy has a crane in his garage..
GolfVR6. why do you insist on waffling on about the VR6 being difficult and shoot down people claims of how fast they can do it just because you can't do it?
Already done it mate! AND since i have already done it i know when people are talking out of their arse.
Some of you lot really do live in the clouds Yeah of course mate i don't know what i'm doing. As you say 'Talk to the hand, 'cos ears ain't listenin'
Will the water from my mk3 polo washer bottle fit in my mk1 washer water bottle?? just to change the subject.........
I've not done a vr yet, but the times seem about right for someone who is quite practiced. ie someone who does it all day every day. Air tools really help and with VRs you can actually get to the manifold bolts.... I get mk2 golf engines out in about an hour without a lift so I have to take all the slam panels and x-members out. In a rush I have had one out in less than 15mins but the car didnt look quite right afterwards.. the motor trade was far from living in the clouds, as I remember it was cold, wet and unpleasant and everyone thought you were ripping them off...
Yep,thats correct. However it is not possible to change a clutch on a vr6 in 1.5 hours, thats start to finish(ready to drive). Thats what a geezer on here quoted. That is living in the clouds, or whiskey if ya like.
excellent entertainment, great thread. Me, being a plodder, would take 2 days min to get the engine out and back in agin. Fiddle, faff and fluff around is half the fun!
I know 800G's can do a VR6 conversion in a day, in a mk2 or 3 (even a diesel). I reckon he could do a clutch on the hard shoulder!
