Not a whisper on the new car publically - I literally chanced a conversation on it previously so assume it is quietly going ahead - Autosport Show unveilling perhaps? Burton doesn't do things by halves. Whatever he produces will be capable of winning. I didn't manage to get out and see the Pug Cosworth in the end, but the strange thing is... there's been no swansong chat, nothing about this being the end of an era...
Great car, he turned up at Epynt Hillclimb (think it was earleir this year) on the way back from a rally and ran the car up the hill a few times for fun. Awesome sound, you could hear it from the bottom to the finish line!! Was scarry on the run as they just threw it up the hill on it's gravel tyres. Rally boys for you -- any way you can as long as it's sideways
Having witnessed Andy Burton`s last few creations; the old S1600 WRC`s; the Group A VW`s and the Escort BDA - G`s ... me too
As much as i love 911's and the sound of that it looks like an absolute pig to drive...massive understeer to massive oversteer in the blink of an eye...quite expensive if you go off aswell! Oh and N/a sounds best in my opinion...think the Andy Burton car just about takes it.Sounds like pure evil
A flyby of 12valvers VR6 in Germany. Note http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6kblmlV8YA At the time this was a stock engine with Schrick inlet. More note these days...
vr6's sound soo sweet! i love the sound of mine from inside the cabin, gonna have to get some out side vids
I must admit, whilst I'm not a great fan of the VR6, that 6 cylinders do make one of the best sounds. That also applies to multiples of 6. I was in Goodwood Festival of Speed many years ago and a Gulf CanAm Porsche went up the hill and I made a mental note at the time that it was the best sounding engine I had ever heard (and I still believe that). However the 6 cylinder cars sound pretty good inc the VR6 clip above and the GT3 and Andy Burton vids earlier in the thread.
6 cylinders? That Porsche was too wide a V angle, and that VR6 too narrow a V angle. The Porsche looked an absolute pig to drive as mentioned above. So you can keep your fast Beetle and Anchor powered Golf too thank you. These look so much more composed. Who would have thought a Porsche could get whipped by a Mini Metro!! I want one. I have no problem with more than two valves per cylinder if the head in question is designed in a decent way following basic engineering principles. Unfortunately your preferred and ill judged choice of power plant falls some what short of my fairly low standards on the subject.
