Hi Guys as you know using jubilee clips on fuel lines can be a time bomb waiting to happen according to some on this forum! please don't look at these pictures of the BulliTT with the RS4 lump and what ever you do don't copy this way of connecting fuel lines.........(by the way this is a urine take on people who have NO mechanical knowledge and post incorrect comments).

be fine on a stainless pipe.

Think the person who was posting was on about sleeving a plastic pipe, which could crush. ;)

trust me using it on a plastic pipe is fine....as they give and even pressure. I have used them for years with no problems at all. The pipes you are talking about had been on the car and connected for over a year with no issues at all.

surely it all depends on the fuel pressure?

5 bar is not going to give a jubilee clip on a fuel hose over rigid plastic pipe any trouble.

because the crap spring clips they sell are cheap to make and easy for VW/Audi to fit. I would trust a jubilee over a spring any day.

Do they? but some have a flat section where the fastener is, so on a small hose surely they wouldn't exert an even pressure all the way round?

I used jubilee clips on the fuel lines in my Mini years ago.....strong smell of petrol and a rapidly dropping fuel guage caused me to stop. I was a little concerned on opening the bonnet to see petrol **ssing all over the hot engine [:s]

Cue a rapid retreat. How it didn't go up in flames is beyond me.

Really? So why do VW bother putting metal inserts in the ends of the plastic pipes then? They are there for a reason, and that reason to to remove any possibility of the plastic pipe collasping. If you're happy to 'make do' with a safety critical part then go ahead, but don't try and make it sound like it's the correct way to do things.

because petrol likes a spark to set off, would take a lot heat to make it ignite.

Sorry is this coming from an engineer? A pipe collapse when it is under pressure??? So long as the spring clip or jubilee clip is on securely and safe then there is no issue what so ever. The thing i am pointing out is comments made in error from those who have not put a car together.....

Simply, no. Mikalor clamps do, and would be a better choice. I've used
new, good quality Jubilee clips on mine but that's running at 5psi at the
most and they're all clamped onto solid metal pipes.

and what error comments were they then?

i know who it is ;)

i'm asking you what comments were made that you feel need correcting?

saying that the use of jubilee clips on fuel lines is fine?? [:s] fine if you are doing it yourself, paying for a conversion and some one using jubilee clips [:s] [8(] i'm not so sure of........compnay should be looking out for customer safety and also reliabilty of such products.

what i am saying is the fact that the clips and pipes were connected for over a year without a problem. I have had mine in the same state without issue also so using jubilee clips cannot be in anyway dangerous or as in title a timebomb.
