good!!can that be a cause of my mates car?it has power to the coil, the coil is good, but no power at the coil exit we've putted a spark plug wire, directly on the coil,so we could se a spark, but no spark! we've tried my amp thing but no dice!...
More likely to be the hall sender in the dizzy or the wiring, if you've tried your good amp on his car!
Surely it would be alot easier/safer to just put a few drips of redex down the spark plug holes, rather than risking locking the engine?
Think of the amount of air going through the engine at 3000rpm, then think about the quantity of water you can suck through a 3mm vacuum hose - you're never going to lock the engine! Redex is good for freeing stuck rings and the like when left to soak, but I don't really rate it for anything else....
I have used Redex in the same way as TSC describes using water. Works a treat but I'm sure water is as good and a lot cheaper. The smoke out the back will be more spectacular with Redex and it keeps blowing white smoke for the next 20 miles or so........ You can also use old brake fluid. If you've ever taken the head off a car that has been leaking brake fluid into the servo you'll know why. The ports, valves and combustion chambers look like new.
so,water is good, and for not messing things up,its better if i dip it,take it off and so forward...right?
Just hold it at 3000rpm, dip it, and leave it dipped in until all the water is gone..... keep the revs up with the throttle if you need to. It won't lock the engine or damage it. And do it when the engine is hot.
oh and another thing i read...(don't know if its true, cause i'm a noob...)but it the head gasket is not on the good side...it could damage it more.but will remove the old spark plugs, get new ones, and try that.
If your head gasket already has a very small blow blocked up by carbon it could open it up, but that's seriously unlikely!
oh,and about the plugs! which should i get? i currently have bosch super 4.i was told the original ones are the best ones...are they?just go to the dealer, and ask for 4 plugs for a KR?
I prefer single electrode plugs, others like 3, others like 4. Personal preference. Here's a thread about the water.... Click
Yes, the factory ones are fine, but you can probably get cheaper ones than the VW ones which will work perfectly. Try going to your local car part shop instead of the dealer, and get a good brand - Champion, NGK, any of the good brands you have heard mentioned on here.
i use a parts shop that works for VW to!i have a friend of mine working there! i think they sell there Bosch and NGK.which would be better?and 3 or 4 prong? name the best i could get from those brands, and a fair price!
this idea of water injection cleaning sounds cool but hwich actual vacume line would u propose most suitable on a mk2 gti 8v? Im eager to try out this theory as i want to also be a believer!
I can vouch and say the water idea works i done it on a mates mk2 a few weeks ago its amazing the amount of rubbish it blew out on his garage door
