Looks fantastic and makes me wish I had taken a little more care of my one.... Still died doing what it loved
I can see my shaved head in those pics lol Looks lovely though mate Looking forward to Bromley this year.
That's not me in the pic ,I took the pic. That my mates brother inlaw. He bought it as an mot failure, think rear shock platform had rotted so he fixed it up to sell on
Next up in late May, it was time to prep it a little for some track days at brands hatch So I picked these up cheap off eBay brand new And fitted a set of federal rsr Also stuck a set of yellow stuff pads in to help the g60s a bit And a shrick baffled sump and windage tray to help keep he oil under control And a mocal 13 row oil cooler and sandwich plate to help with the cooling, I kept the factory cooler also and used a lupo gti oil filter to help with clearance
Next up was the track evening at brands. The car went really well and ready enjoyed the track. Had a few problems the heater matrix started to leak so had to loop that out, and also the car seemed to be running quite hot. It was almost 30 degrees out side though. My oil temp was getting upto 130 on the Mfa and the water temp was creeping to 3/4 on the guage. Waiting in the garage Chasing down a production car. Laters Arty one
Next up I got a new rad as mine had a small leak and wasn't a proper thick 16v one. I also wrapped part of the down pipe with heat wrap as it melted my relay shaft ball last time. I also fitted a rear eibach arb, but didn't have time to fit the front, that made the car a little twitchy to start with but I soon got used to it I then booked another track evening at brands, this time it was the retro car evening. There was some nice oldschool motors on track, I think the golf was one of the newest. The car ran just as well this time and ran a little cooler but sill a smidge above halfway although I still had the matrix looped out and it was about 30 degrees again outside.
Next up in nov 14, I took an 8 hr round trip upto see brookster to buy his old 020 box with quaife and 3.9 fd and lightened flywheel. Then set about fitting it. With a new sach clutch While I was down there I changed this too, I think the old one done well for 25 yrs lol With the new box fitted it does make the abf feel more lively and the diff feels really good on the corners. I think the flywheel maybe a little too light for normal road use as it makes the car a bit jerky, but is awesome on track.
This is gorgeous! I wouldnt chnage a thing! and so nice to see you using it properly! super super clean! :thumb:
