I know you said "don't tell me it's unsafe" But.... just an uneducated theory...

Take a fast corner hard. The weight of the car shifts sideways as the tyres grip. The force presses from your hub to your wheel centre. This pushes the inside edge of the lips on your RS, which are normally held to some extent by the tyres. So no real force on the bolts?

Take the corner again with the centres mounted on the outside of the lips. The tyres grip, the hub still pushes on the centre, but that is on the outside of the dish so the only thing preventing it from popping off is the bolts?

Is it still safe? Not trying being to be smart, genuine question. Are the bolts up to the job?

Not quite right I think. People reverse mount BBS LM's all the time and they are set up like that. What about the centre/rim on the inside of the car when you are cornering, its seeing the opposite forces from the outside wheel.

    Doesnt look right though IMO.

Bolts are upto the job, and that is why the backface is machined so both lips sit ON centre, as said BBS LM are already machined for this. I understand your concerns though ;)

I suppose 30 or so small bolts are as strong or stronger than the 4 that hold the whole lot in place! Look forward to seeing this finished

While I was pushing it around the workshop I managed to dent the bonnet so had to straighten it out.

I just remembered that the golf came with a brand new Clifford g4 alarm in the box, what are people's views on these? I have done some reading up and some say that are sh*t and some say great (if wired properly)
So has anyone had one and what's your view on it?
    Cheers
