Looking for some tyres for my new wheels - what do you recommend?? Please give any reasons you may have for your choice:

    -Grip wet/dry

    -Durability

    -Looks

    -Road noise

    Cheers :)

I can't really vote sorry mate because I have Yoko A539's on the back & Fulda's on the front.195/50/15

Iv got no probs with either & I think the yoko's are quite cheap to buy now, IIRC about 39.99 P/T.

Might look a bit odd, but the Rainsports I've had have been great. Comfortable ride (even in a 45 series), outstanding in the wet, progressive breakaway, and I got a good 25,000 out of a pair! Cheap too at 70 each fitted in a 205/45R16 ...

Yeah I've heard good things about the rainsports from a few people.

The Toyos are probably the best performers, but they've got a pretty short life according to most. [:s]

I didn't originally put the Eagle F1s up as im struggling to find any for a reasonable price

eagle f1s last for ages [unless you are tubs] grip unbelieveably well in the wet, look cool and have pretty high grip levels in the dry too

    Any comments on Firestone SZ80?

Been offered some at a reasonable price, but how are they rated?

My 17'' eagle f1's are mint, although their life is being seriously compromised by 282bhp

My 15'' toyo track day tyres, only using them on the road, seem to be very soft, i reckon theyll wear fairly quick. [:s]

i've voted for rainsports, but would recomend getting uniroyal rallye 540's instead.

i've used both, and they're very similar but the rainsports blocks flex a bit more but they are slightly better in the wet.

the rallye540's have awesome longitudal grip (traction and braking), awesome lateral grip in the wet, better than average dry lateral grip but any loss in in that is made up for by the fact that they are sooooo progressive, you can really enjoy throwing the car around on them. wears very good as well, even though they are soft. they're also quiet and comfortable over bumps. rainsports are very similar, but slightly better in the wet, slightly worse in the dry, and less progressive...but its only very small amounts.

of the others on the list i've used the kuhmo's (very poor grip generally, very quick wear), fulda's (even worse than the kuhmo's), yoko's (not bad wear rate, i'd say an average tyre but nothing special), and a friend uses toyos and reports poor wet grip, he also seems to wear them out quite frequntly.

Thanks for the replies so far - much appreciated!

I'm not really a fan of Falkens - my experience is very poor in the wet, scary in fact!

I'm very tempted by the Toyos I think - found a good deal on them, just still a little unsure as to the wear rate.

Uniroyals seem to be a very good deal though and seem to have some good reviews,

    [:s] [:s] [:x]

    cheers

I have Yokohama A539 on mine and whilst they are ok in the dry they are a nightmare in the wet. I get massive understeer with them [:x]
