    Hi All,

Got an 8v GTI 1989. It has a SINGLE Light Grill on it. So just the two headlamps up front and of course the lights are pooE!

Gonna get the uprated loom installed on it, but what blbs do i need? With the uprated loom I can get 100watt or 130watt i believe...

But has any got any reccomendations for bulbs. I presume i Need to change the main bulbs (sidelights) and also the high beam, so there is FOUR bulbs in total to change within the two big headlamps? am i right??

Would this kit do the job or does someone else have a suggestion??

    click me

But these only say 55watt? Bit apooe, but has 4 bulbs with it? preumably the ones i need to change?

    Muchos help appreciated!

These are 100w Osram Bulbs with no uprated wiring loom......

They made loads of difference compaired to the pooe fitted before......

I've changed the bulbs for something else now though and they look like this....

Didn't think you could get any road legal 100w or 130w bulbs? [:s] Because they are just so bright and easily blind oncoming traffic plus the heat they would generate would melt some headlamps!

I think only 55w are the only road legal bulbs you'll get. But by uprating the loom you'll be making sure the bulbs are getting the correct voltage. ;)

I think member 'the other simon' would know most about this if not then maybe there is something on the Daniel Stern website!

Right, sounds like the Osram ones I have listed there are probably best with the uprated loom as well, should give a good vision!

Anyone any reviews of the Osrams? use them?

Or what type of osram is best?

Silverstar (Plus 50%) are the best from Osram, have a look on the Autoexpress website.

They did a test on bulbs (Plus 50 per cent) and i think it was really close between Philips and Osram.

    Bulb Test - Plus 50%

I had the Philips VisionPlus (50%) and they were really good! So i would have thought the Osram to be of the same performance if not better as the test Autoexpress found the Osram to be a litte better! ;)

zaks got some Osram +10% blue 4000k bulbs which are 60/55w with an uprated loom on his mk1 and they look preety damn fine! Light the road up much better than his old 100w standard bulbs with an uprated loom.

Btw dont get the ones you posted teh ebay link to in your first post, they are rubbish! Im sure you must have seen some chav boys around your area cruising with these lights on? They look nothing like xenons or a bright white light, they just shine a crap pure blue light. Worst thing is the cars ive seen them fitted to are the ones which dont have crystals, i.e frosted glass and it looks hilarious
