Does anyone have any pics of the VW Motorsport stickered up wheels, like this basically - but different!

I think they were either OZ or Compomotives??? I'm after some inspiration/info for a project..

    VW used OZs too:

18" Mk4 kitcar Tarmac rim on the left, 15" forest on the right.

The design you're thinking of above was used in the forests on a 15", on both Mk3 & 4 kitcars. They're quite heavy, with thick rims to withstand forest work.

    Mk3 kitcars were 4-stud, and Mk4s were 5-stud.

    If it's 15" you're after, there's a set in 5-stud around.

    Cheers Chris,

It was more the decal design I was looking for, I seem to remember a set like those forest ones with blue lettering but couldn't quite remember if they had the VWM logo or it was actually written as VW motorsport round the wheel..

I may have found something in MKV fitment I'm hoping to make into a bit of a project.

There are two versions. VW Motorsport logo (old style, last used in ~ 1999), or a later "VW Racing" re-brand.

If you need more photos, or even a scan, happy to oblige as I have various VWM wheels.

    Hmmm - decisions, decisions....

Basically (*touches wood it all goes through ok) I've laid my hands on a set of 18" magnesium OZ tarmac wheels and I want to pay a little bit of homage to the slags of old. I'm stuck on designs and which era to go for - so anything you've got, stick it up and I'll greatfully appreciate the help!

    Mike.

That's giving me ideas now, quite tempted to replicate that on my Compo THs, but without the OZ logo. Can you buy those decals for the wheels?

    They might be on eBay.

On the actual wheels themselves, they're not decals, or if they are, they're buried under lacquer. Totally smooth to feel.

    Ohhh yesh!!

Right, I think that's made my mind up then - new style in white powdercoat/.:R blue stickers & lacquered to seal.

I'll stick a picture up when they land on Friday in their raw state. Now, to find someone who makes decent stickers....

It would be rude not to ask VWR's permission to use the logos I assume, best look into that too.

    Thanks, Chris.

Interesting how that rather hardcore looking tarmac 18" rim is still lighter than my Speedline.. I'll weigh these new ones for comparison too.

    I can't see they'd have any issue on a one-off non-commercial set.
