Isn't the Volvo 5 cylinder actually really the old Audi 5 cylinder made under licence?

i can't believe a 16v beats a civic ctr, maybe if your mum is driving the ctr

my fiat has 220bhp, LSD,tons of grip etc, but loads of modern cars seem just as fast.

I reckon there's loads of people deluding themselves, 16vs feel fast because they are a bit rough and noisy, but in real world driving you have to almost kill it just to stay close to a modern TDI.

mine had 158bhp on Vinces rollers, and i had to keep it above 6k to keep up with the ex in her 130pd mk4

Hmm, thats a bit more down to earth... A nice honest judgement. I can imagine the 16v will be quick enough for me though...
Has anyone ever owned a cagiva mito, or an aprilia rs?
Any chance a 16v would touch one?

I literally poo'ed my pants when i rode my old cagiva for the first time. When the powerband kicked in it nearly threw me off the back [:D] [:D] Ive been addicted to 2-poke's ever since... The beast would hapily rev to over 11,500 [:D] ;) [:D]
The cagiva is meant to have a 0-60 of between 7 and 7.5 secs, but felt a hell of alot quicker.

As said before, it's all about power to weight, and how your car's chassis can control that power in day to day driving.

My Mk1 has around 300 bhp per tonne, but still needs developing in the chassis department to control that power. Still a fun car to drive tho !

Theres plenty of relatively good value hot hatches in the market, and Seats are great value IMO.

I haven't read this whole thread so if this has already been covered, sorry.
I have an '86 8v & a colleague has an 02 Leon 1.8t, on a private road we had a straight line drag race over about 1/8 mile from a standing start. When we arrived at the roundabout (a private one) he had less than 1/2 a cars length on me, coming off the r-a-b onto the (private) motorway I had 1/2 cars length lead on him.
On paper I shouldn't have had a chance, 180bhp v 118bhp & his 0-60 time is between 0.5 & 0.9 secs quicker than mine. On the road, in real life, that equates to just about diddly squat.
His car must have cost him 5000 at the time, mine was 500.

Maybe he didn't want to stack 5k of car and you're quite happy to write off 500 [:D]

Doesn't sound right to me. Where's them rose tinted spec's gone ;)
