I saw a 205 on the A27 today it bombed past me but I was just pottling along listening to cricket. Quite a few Mk2s and the odd Mk1 down here in Chichester, I even see others commuting in them too. However I'm about to bed mine down to occasional status too. Got things to do like fit a new front wheel arch panel.
Haven't read the whole list... but then there's the XR2i and Fiesta RSTurbo to add... an XR2i bombed passed me yesterday, then stopped at the lights. Pretty little thing it was, and tidy. And not completely part of the list... but I did like the MG Maestro 2.0 EFi and the Turbo version if you can find one!! Cracking motors!
Escort/ FiestaRS Turbo XR3i Any Cosworth Nova GTE/GSi/SR Astra GTE Clio 16v Renault 21 turbo Renault 5 GT Turbo Renault 19 16v "chamade" (lol! class name) Diahatsi Charade GTTI (3 cylinder turbo!) Suzuki Swift etc etc (feel free to add more) When was the last time you saw any of these? yesterday when i went in the shed lol. i have a escort s2 rs turbo a mk4 xr31 the golf gti and a mk1 escort (in bits) i would love a 205 gti if i had space
i also saw a 1.9 205 gti today in dawlish which was very nice. hears some pics of my (late) 80s hot haches 1 from the back of my shed and 1 of my rs 1 car i saw a while ago that i wish there was still more about is a delta hf turbo
My old mark one LTL860Y seems to have disappeared according to DVLA. That had a full restoration in 1991 and was absolutely perfect. Can't believe that is now not on the road. You can understand less popular models disappearing but golfs have always enjoyed a strong following. Mike
I was admiring an escort RS turbo with roll cage this morning, until it blew a hose and pulled over. Felt sorry for the fella, all because we were stuck in traffic due to some even less fortunate soul throwing himself off a bridge over the M60. I blame the Tories for the suicide rate and the blown hose, and Labour for the lack of old metal (scrappage scheme)!!!
I haven't seen any5GT Turbo's on the Road for a loooong time! They are FULL of character, with the turbo lag etc. By character, I mean flaws Here are some pictures for you (sorry, all Renaults and not road cars). Cadwell, driving last week; Great racing: This is a great car of the 90's, don't see many of these around! Another 90's one; And my one Dont see many of these either! Hope they fit the bill - I am sure most are written off! The GT Turbo racing was mostly late 80's though
i saw a r5 gt turbo on wednesday with a full dimmer kit (wide wheel arches split rims the lot) i tried to get my phone out in time but the lights changed. gutted. if i see it again i will gwt a pic
Great video! I don't think Renault get enough credit for some of the interesting things they do; Clio V6 Renault 5 Turbo 2 Renault spider - being aluminium chassis and without a windscreen - and all before the lotus Elise was released ('95) Renault 5 Gordini - (THIS is going to be controversial here!) - The first Hot Hatch, pre-dating the golf gti I would say the golf was of course made/designed better... And handled properly. Alot of it was flawed (and made like a cardboard box) but interesting all the same.
Renault make some fine looking motors. I have had a few drinks tonight, but the sexy French take on the 6R4 has my vote. Beer goggles or not. Jambo beware.
Me too. That Megane Trophy is amazing. Have a look at the predecessor, the V6 Trophy. The looked/sounded great! But where quite crude, and where a bit unruly to drive. But imagine 40odd through the streets of Monaco! It wasnt too far from the 90's!
saw two spyders last year, one through my village, having not seen one in many many years, then another at Goodwood breakfast club. I still want a R5T
Ive always wanted one of these. A Mk3 Escort Rs 1600i I know its not a 90's hatchback but there is just something about them! I havent seen one in years though!
My mates has two Renault 21 turbos! A white 1987 phase 1 front wheel drive (for sale) and a red 1991 phase 2 quadra
