The 20v NA engine would be very interesting to try. From what I recall, it flows really well and with a cam swap and on custom management & throttle bodies, makes more than a like for like 16v. There was someone on VWVortex who did this? Only thing that puts me off are the grenade valves.

They come with an exhaust manifold job to fix - not everyday territory. People just don't seem to be into creating them, due to their involved nature, and weaknesses being quickly punished with breakage.

Mk4 Golf 20v NA tubular OEM exhaust manifold fits for conversions. No more work than altering 16v ones for a tall block or lhd ones for melting steering column boot.

2 litre is for gheys and girls.
Just what am I going to do with these diesel cranks!:o

On a serious note. The ADR block is different at the headgasket face, as it has an extra row of oil drains at the rear. The head will not fit on the 8 or 16v blocks without extensive work.

So from my understanding going with ABF engine I cannot rev like the KR engine... but with 9A engine it can handle higher rev...

    is this correct?

I really like the free rev character of the stock KR 1.8 engine...

There is also the N/A 2.0 16v FSi engine from the Golf MkV GT. 150bhp & 150lbft standard form. Proper angled inlet & exhaust valves too. I have a sneaky suspicion that the AMD BTCC Golf has this engine....

It'll rev fine. Go for a an ABF and you won't regret it.

I actually didn't understand you for once. [:s]

Leave standard injectors in place to keep chamber seal and fit outboard injectors aka Jenvey style?

The FSI engine has different pistons ( to encourage mixture swirl to the plug or wall guided concept) compared to the 2.0 ALT PFI engine found in the 2000-2001 A4.
