shortly after i bought it i found out the previous owner had been running nos on it :) unfortunately had melted number1 piston ring, car ran and still had about 160bhp at fly, but for what it had done was really under powered, was a fully balanced and lightened 9a block lightened fly 8v g/box, gas flowed head, standard cams i think, kstar remap, it was burning loadsa oil through the rings so decided to sell it, get back what i had spent on it, if i knew then what i know now bout rebuilding engines would have kept it and fixed it but....

Hhmm nos good or bad the age old question?

I was down tsr for the e1k rr on jan 10th (i think) & there was a guy there previouslly in nov who owned a 2.1 8v who said to me he was running nos on it [xx(] , anyway tsr told me that (i think its him [:$] ) that he rang up saying the engine blew up & explained the situation and as soon as he mentioned nos he had invalidated his expensive warranty....oh dear.

well i do know some people who have run their cars on nos and seem fine, but like you said that 8v and my old 16v sure as hell didnt like it!, there as so many different types out there, wet, dry, 25bhp jets up god know how much, all depends really, think if your sensible can be safe, but dont think i'll ever fit it! ;)

[:s] Why did you buy it without making sure it wasn't burning oil? I would do that on any car I was gonna buy especially a modified car [:s] ;)

    Hi,
    good point Vento Mike,
only thing i can say in my defence is, i dont know much about cars and engine etc, so i didnt really know what to look out for, it seem to drive well on the day, so i thought it was ok,
i think shouldnt of posted the comment, so soz every1 incl Will for that post. but it just reminded me off all the anger i had for about 3 months+.

    Hi Will,
i understand Will, not to worry, still a lot of car there, its been stood in my garage for ages now, not had chance to rebuild, no-one really wants to rebore etc in the leeds area, so what do u know about rebuilding?, any info u can provide me, as im wanting to get it sorted, but im always buying new cars,
ive considered a 1.8t conversion, but dependant on the price of a good conversion really.

racepower are willing to do it, but they just want the engine, which is difficult for me to transport to kent.

    thanx
