Your Most Annoying Car Noise?

i have a rattling servo in mi boot and some plastic squeek from my rear shelf support

but the MOST annoying sound to me has to be suspension noise(which i have just illiminated )

rattling exhausts. when you stop in traffic people look around for the banger/death trap with the squeeking banging exhaust lol (that was me just over a month ago)

i told everyone the squeeking was my 'charger

 

Downpipe heatshield, horrible noise up to 3k the silent to 4k and then again thereafter.

Now removed

 

Yep, exhaust for me too. Currently leaking from somewhere 'up for'ard', worsening quite fast. They should ban exhausts, think of the reduction in emissions...

 

that noise brakes make when youve got the pads down to the backing plate

 

2nd gear synchro crunching when ripping through the cogs

 

Ooo yeah and that noise too, very embarassing.

 

i'd agree with a rattly heat shield..

my most annoying noise was on my mk1. above 60mph something in the dash used to scream until i whacked the dash. it would stop.. & then start again..

it used to do it for a week or so every 6 months. never did find out what it was.

 

the sound of 20vt's irritates me.

 

I drive a diesel, that's the only thing i hear. god know what other noises there'd be if i had a petrol soundtrack...

 

ive not heard any annoying/breaking sounds for ages, not since fitting steve's old exhaust (i wonder why)

 

they irritate me if there is a dump valve its like give it a rest son ! that mod hasent even made it faster



another one ! clattering brake pads coz you forgot to put the springs on

AND wheel bearings wa wa wa wa wa wa was in a car with one of my mums friends and the rear bearings were driving me nuts she thought it was just tyre noise

 

The squeaky creaky noise my skoda fabia dashboard makes, they all do it apparently I must follow one of the guides and pack some foam in the dash mounting points.

its not made a sound (rattle sound) for a couple months now. it took two attempted to get it on right.

i had to 'persuade' a couple shields out of the way, but it wasnt a problem. id never be able to hear anything thats on its way out now.

do you have the contact details (or even the name) of that place near you that did the exhaust manifolds?

 

I put some new GSF wishbones on and the NSF bushes crunch and squeek under breaking eversince I did it It drives me up the wall. Nevermind I have refurbed' my old VW wishbones and will put them back on ! Goodbye GSF stuff .. all going in the bin ... ! Never be buying anything from them again ... (also the GSF tie rod ends, ball joints and ARB links are being binned too for OEM stuff)

 

the horrible squeak / creak the driver exhaust manifold to gti downpipe cone joint thing makes whever the engine moves

horrible noise and embarssin to boot

front brakes still squeak a little also

 

Got to be the otherhalf in the rare occasions when shes atually in it.

 

My exhaust banging on the rear beam due to the rear hanger snapping. It's so bloody loud and embarrasing.

 

My starter motor overrun. Only does it now and again but sounds horrible.
