so many. Timing belts tentioner makes a racket sometimes when hot. Rear bearings need nipping and gresing but cant be bothered so sounds cack. General banging of tough suspension over crappy roads we have in in here, that one realy gets up my nose as i thought i paid for this to be fixed with my road taxes. Petrol pump when on low fuel The mutley like laugh and scampish chuckle my car does when it springs another water leak. Not necacerily a car noise but related. The ch-ching noise i hear coming from the petrol station owner when he sees me pull up outside the v-power pump every week and the gloopy slapping of my a-hole sound as i get bent over the till and raped as i punch in the pin number on the card machine.
For me its gotta be..... 1. The pulley on the end of the alternator..... it squeeks and squaks like you are murdering your granny's budgie! 2. The air con fan vibrating.... now there's an annoying thing....
the god damn exhaust. I just cant get it hanging right since I've had to change some of the hangers. It used to sit right up high and now it hangs really low on the back and looks pants, clanks around and rattles horribly at idle. I'm pretty sure some reinforced hangers (using the old jubilee clip technique) and re-adjusting of the heatshields - just finding the time to be bothered. my heater makes a squeeking noise for the first 30 seconds if the car is freezing cold - thats also annoying
snaping sound on start up when cold (not tappits) wurring/tickling of timing belt constantly. seatbelt squeek, hard suspension banging, carb vibrating at high revvs. choke cable vibrating behind dash, dash squeek, heater fan twittering when you go round a right hand bend!!?? N/S C.V. joint on righthand bends. N/S/R door card squeeks, parcel shelf squeeks, missfire pop on tickover throughexhaust. Clicking of U.J. on steering column oh and pinking at topend (can't cure the bugger)
Last time my stripped mk1 was on the road i didn't have any annoying noises because it was just to noisy inside .
Just changing my steering rack and taking the sub-frame off. So I have finally taken the GSF wishbones off and what do I find .... This explains all of the noises and braking / steering problems. I only bought these wishbnones in March. So they have been on the car ~7 months and they are knackered . At last final proof of how bad GSF parts are ..... money back please !!!!!!!!! . They are gonna get a right x,y,z .. ****
Lol i'd have kick her in't muff. The most annoying noise in my car has got to be the dash rattling due to the fact my car BUMP!s over everything... I need coilies
That sucks dude, what are the NSF bushes like i need to replace mine, where would you reommend, obviously not GSF!!!!
I'd replace them with VW OEM bushes ... but it'll cost you almost the same to get new bushes (2 per wishbone) pushed in as it would be to buy 2 new wishbones from a VW Dealer But you should get 10% discount with a CGTI membership card Or find a decent VW specialist garage near you and ask them what bushes they use & quiz them on it !
Another vote for atmos dump valves - chav $hite. My heater squeaks when cold too - put it on speed 3 for a bit, sorted.
whats the price of a wishbone from the dealer? the bushes are a few quid each, but need a press to get them in id say.... stop being a girl and get poly ones
i got fookin annoying rattle clatter when i accelerate, apparently its the steering rack boot lettin engine noise into the cabin, and a fookin high pitched squeak from the front of car at low speeds, havnt go to the bottom of that yet!!!
hehehehe lol. Well one hour's labour at C&R to push the bushes in plus the bushes themselves equates to nearly the price of 2 new OEM wishbones. Plus no hastle with time and getting to and from the mechanics ! Still not sure on poly bushes, it is another thing to add to the insurance and I have better things to spend my money on than increase it from mid 300's to over 400 a year. More important to sort the body work and may have the interior re-trimmed ....saying that I am tempted though
Grill on the dash vibrates after some garage had the dash out I'm guessing there broke a lug so it doesn't sit tight any more. I'll get round to replacing it at some point.
