Buying a MK1 Golf that "smoked a bit" 500miles and gallons of oil later. Bang, clatter clatter clatter...(at 90ish) Little end gone.
Buying a 1800GL Jetta on "spur of a moment thing" Oil seal blew 10 miles down road f**king clutch up and Head gasket went 40miles after new clutch
getting my car out the paintshop and trying out a squeeji to dry the car. last time i used one of those pieces of 5hit it had a little stone trapped under it and put 2 lines down the fresh paint
Fitting my big bumpers I had the car on full lock with the front end in the garage, after a few hours of being on the floor cleaning underneath etc i was anxious to check the look and was too quick coming out of the garage and scratched one side.... had to replace it the front when I got them painted. Also bought a VW cab after falling in love with it on sight, externally was mint, but the rear arches and sills were fecked ! (wont ever make that mistake again !)
unbolting the rear axle of a (someone elses) golf that was being supported on axle stands at either end of the rear beam. Almost amputated most of my fingers when the weight shifted with a bang. Was only changing springs.
not checking on oil and getting the garage to thoroughly check an odd noise till it was too late [:^(]
leaving my foot on the clutch in traffic, slipping and jumping into a tow bar. got it resprayed as soon as after that. friend of mine would wedge a penny in the dump valve on his g60 cause is sounded better and oddly enough dented his bonnet from the inside
Dropping the speedo drive bolt into the 'box whilst attempting to insert the drive a few weeks back Thank god for them Magnet-on-a-stick jobbies that I used to retrieve it!
Jacked the car up on a hill to look at why the handbrake was a bit dodgy. I thought I had the gear in reverse. It turns out I didn't. The weight of the car made the jack topple and the car began to roll. One of the only times I almost sh*t my pants. Edited by: Russ_JDUB
Dropping the Mk1 down after a days hard slog underneath.... with the axle stand sitting under the sill Oh, and in a scrappy, much to my then fiance's amusement, trying to jack up a Scirocco to get some bits off it, without realising it was sat on mud, and had another 2 cars stacked on top..... Al
