I'd take the wait from R-Tech if I were you, his specialism in tuning mainly tfsi's means that he has a much better understanding of getting the most out of a map with any specific mods you have. Having had revo on my stock TFSI S3 I'd say it was good but there were some holes in the map that an R-Tech map should overcome. If I turned up the boost on the revo map using the SPS settings I would get surge at the bottom end if I tipped to full load before 3000rpm. But it definitely delivered better at the top end with the higher boost setting. Id imagine other generic stage one maps would give you a similar answer to the revo ones. I guess in the end it's if you have the itch to get every last Nm out of the car....
I keep telling myself that I'd be happy with a generic stage 1 map, my ex had a new Ed30 which was just Revo st1 back in 2009 ish and was a quick car. I don't think I can wait 6 weeks or whatever R-tech's lead time is, With Jabba being local it makes it easier if you have any issues than R-tech being a couple of hours away. Have read quite a bit that mapped K04 cars do or can suffer from surge in the mid-range, nature of the beast. Finally got a reply back from the Revo dealer, it's £499 + vat now, then another £99 + vat for the SPS which you'll need if you disconnect the battery...... Expensive for just a flash!
Hugo (HPR) messaged me, he told me there's a place called Maxtreme in Wisbech (9miles away) who do remapping /dyno. He knows them through motorsport (They are rebuilding an ex Plato Seat Toledo touring car, you may have seen the pics on the CGTI FB page?) http://www.maxtreme.co.uk/ https://www.facebook.com/Maxtremetuning/ very reasonable price at £300 inc before and after runs on their Maha dyno. Should be 300-310bhp 400-420nm Booked in for May 14th!
In all the years of owning Golfs I've never been round Curborough! I'm coming along this year to spectate, hadn't thought about entering! I'll ponder over the next few days.

Love these cars. Best of the mk5s. Keerat wants to map his too but has gone down the road of diff, brakes and suspension first.
Recently car developed a misfire, started and ran fine until a wiff of boost then car would stutter - checked codes with OBDeleven P0300 random/multiple cylinder misfire and P0304 cyl 4 misfire, after Googling for car specific info could be anything from plugs/coils to an injector which is an inlet manifold off job to sort. Luckily a new set of NGK plugs and a no4 coil pack have fixed it. Back to full power!!
Local guy is a (genuine) VW expert/specialist and mate, as well as a REVO dealer. He finds them very fussy about plugs, and has had terrible issues with Bosch plugs in them. Of Vw or NGK only .
We only fit NGK to motorcycles, some are hitting nigh on 200hp/l and come with NGK as factory fit. Wouldn't fit a Bosch in my lawn mower..
