looks like some good set-ups. Gonna be some nice induction noise on the roads this spring:) Here's a question....as you know I'm fitting R1 carbs to a KR engine..... which side of the carbs is the fuel in-let ?[:$] I'm asking this because the R1 carbs have a connection on both sides. Next question ......if its the left side whats the right connection for and if its the right.... Whats the left for.[:s]

I'd imagine feed and return, do the carbs have a pipe connecting all the carbs to each other so the fuel will flow inot the left hand one and work its way across for instance and then the right hand one will have a restricted return ?

Still not sure about all the connections but worked out from looking at pictures posted on here that the supply goes to a connection at the bottom of the carbs. Have had it running so I guess that was right.
    here's a link a small vid

mine was a total KR16v install so it was just about everything.

1800 KR engine, complete with wiring loom and ECU
5 speed mk2 gti box.... all new seals
    complete sachs clutch
    new timing belt
100mm drive shafts.... new CV's on one side
5 speed gear linkages ..... new bushes
    5 speed gearbox mount
new rear and drivers side engine mount inserts
    new oil pump
    new oil cooler
    new water pump
Ashley 4 into 1 exhaust manifold
    custom inlet manifold
    R1 carbs
    R1 fuel pump
    Silicon hose kit
    new radiator
    2 speed fan

    etc etc...... probably plenty more.

The video was taken by a mate of mine so I don't have access to it at the momment. Plus it was taken in HD and he had a lot of problems actually getting photobucket to accept it so Emailing it could be a problem too. Sorry.

Got stacks of help with this from the Caddy forum so if you search for PROJECT KR2008 you can tap into that info.

@ Jamez - What are you using for bungs in there? Looks like you found a big bolt to fit - any idea what size it is?

Did you have to do any machining on the outside of the manifold to get the hose to seal properly?

what happens to the igntion and ecu if fitting then to an efi engine? do you just get rid of the injections system fit carbs (obviously with the right fuel reg and filter and throttle/choke cable and manifold) block up the injector holes and it just runs or do you need megasquirt or something? thanks

the 16v ignition controller doesnt handle fueling at all so you can just keep the ignition system as is, megasquirt is also another route you can take or megajolt etc.

so once you've got rid of the injection stuff and fitted the carbs and stuff the car will just run and respond to the carbs?

yeah you just fiddle with the fueling till it starts and away you go :)
the 16v ignition controler just takes a temp sensor input, vacuum, dizzy position and works out the ign advance from that.

    hi jamez

i take it this is a standard 16v manifold was it easy to cut down? what did you use grinder saw etc?

also what have you used to bung the holes? welded threaded in etc?

    looks perfect

    cheers
