just reassembling my tial gate as when i tested it when i stripped the motor down it leaked away slightly.. going to reduce its base pressure now whilst its apart, from 15psi down to 10psi, so i have more adjustment range to turn the turbo down to.. 15psi was 4th gear wheelspin at combe in the dry. only run 32% duty cycle on n75 so loads of headroom to run 35psi full chat (if) i want to.

    slowly going back together :)

And there's me thinking wheel spin in 3rd was bad!

Looking forward to seeing this back together. I saw the state the cylinder head was in when it was at JP's. Didn't look good at all! [xx(]

When do you think she'll be back on the road Bill?

yea, its written off that head. unecconomic to recover.
I can weld up the melted bits, but the seat damage renders is U/S to me wise

Still JP did a lovely job on the new head.. and picked up 10% more exhaust flow and 2-3% more on intake than before, so it should run well again

New valve gear and springs etc - fresh again to see the 9krpms it will get abused at

On the road in Feb is the target so I can get some testing done before season starts @ combe

Be good to see you out this year.

How long since the race suit has been on. Does is still fit. I bought a new one 2 months ago and put on over half a stone since, its looking a little tight. Wish id gone for a size bigger now.

Sounds good, looking forward to seeing / hearing it on track.

Have you gone for solid lifters or are you going to keep the standard hva's?

Dear me :o What are these guys on?

700 for a suit? - I'd want a tailored 3-piece suit and monacle for that!

    WTF!

I never knew your engine failed Bill, sorry to hear that

I was away for couple of months last summer, guess thats why i missed it

And to think stupid plugs could be the cause..... gutting

Cant beleive we were talking about this very issue on my thread back in may

On page 2 i also said i may be trying nkg 9s

    aye..
failure on the track was head gasket crying enough.. when I dismantled it, the plug damage became apparent tho, which is what ironically caused the terminal head damage.. I could weld the head up and remachine the melt damage no problem, but the dinked valve seats a valves made it unecconomic, so new agu head I had was sent for porting and built up with all new supertech valvetrain.

Excessive ign advance was my cause.. despite zero det on det cans, there was more cylinder pressure than my Raceware head studs could cope with, and it tried to lift the head which is why the gasket failed. Undoing the head nuts, was less than 12lbft worth of torque I could have done it with a 1/4" drive ratchet... EAK!
Cylinder pressures involved would have been in excess of 3000psi on the boost and timing I was running.. Less mid range timing when I get it back running again.. and ARP head bolts not Raceware studs next time too. (greater holding torque apparently) - and the correct head gasket to suit my 83mm bores too..
