on the VR6 been heavier than a 1.8 20vT debate.........

am i right in thinking that there very little difference in weight between to 2 engines ???

    &

it's the shape of a VR6 engine that can cause the car to be nose heavy and possibly make the car more prone to understeer???

i reckon if you fit the good old electric supercharger thingy youll be good to go thats an extra 300bhp then the side stripes add bhp

the 18t engine is only unreliable when its running on the oem ignition the cops are crap

vr6 enignes sound nice but thats about it

if its a decision based on engine and not money i reckon most will go for the 1.8t

i raced a supposedly 300bhp vr6 at the pod on sunday and to be honest what a waste of money left him for dead and i was only doing 14.6 ish 1/4 mile runs

Do you tend to believe everything you read or hear?

As for comments about ian referring to racing does racing have nothing to do with fast road cars then as if you believe that has nothing to do with fast road cars then your seriously deluded. Oh hang on a minute, i think you might be

So assuming the two engines weigh roughly the same, realistically how much would it cost to get a remapped K04 1.8T into a mk2 including labour? Is it more or less work that say a VR6 with a modest turbo running similar power (sensible boost levels for street use), say 270bhp (remapped K04 1.8T power)?

Try reading what i have said i said mine cost about 3k just to turbo it nothing else !
You wold need about 10k for 750bhp and yes i could buy and install a vr turbo for 3k but not with big power !

You would only need to fit the same components as you have fitted to your VR6....so IF your figures were right....I guess the same.

    And its lighter.

BAM engine with remap and custom decat down pipe, larger intercooler plus a few goodies. if installed yourself could be done for less than 2k.

You can leave the internals std to a point.

plenty of cars on here running 1.8t' pushing around the 300bhp mark

not wishing to be confrontational, but maybe you could give us a rough idea of the cost of the components used in your VR6T

Yes i under stand but thats 2k plus the price of an engine ! So your looking at 3k for a 300bhp engine am i right ?

For 3k i could buy a cheap vr6 and turbo it and get 300bhp this is what i am saying .
You cant beat a vr6 for bhp to your thats all i am saying .

What are you on about ?

The only mods needed for 500bhp on a vr6 is arp rod bolt a head studs can you say that about an 18t ?
