Got a letter from the police today... they want to know who was driving the Golf with an identical registration number to mine down the M4 at 91mph last Sunday...

I've been driving for less than 2 years... bye bye to my licence?

    any advice? [:x]

    were you on the M4?

id guestimate that 91 = sp50 which is only 3 points.

is it a conditional NIP you have?

Over 100 is an instant ban, you may be able to get away with it with a load o points. Plenty of threads onhere where peopl have been caught well over the speed limit.

the '100 = instant ban' is a myth.

i got caught at 86 the other week, i got a conditional NIP so it looks like im getting a standard sp50

Ive been driving for just over a year now. I keep my speed down. Its pretty easy to do in a 1.0 though:lol:

I dont like to go over 80 for the first 2 years anyway:)

OK, after some research, here's my first step...

I'm going to ignore the letter. [:D]

If I don't sign and return it they can't prove I even received it. Apparently, of however many fines are issued each year, around 17,000 go unpaid. Do they take all 17,000 to court? I doubt it.

So I'll wait until they send it by recorded delivery before taking any action.

Then... I'll ask for photographic evidence and go over it with a fine-toothed comb. That 'R'... kind of looks like an 'A', doesn't it?
