The increased disk diameter and the increased pad surface area that comes with the 288mm caliper, make little to no difference and is the reason why VW upgraded them on later cars.

Pump pliers are your friend... ;)

And does 8mm make much difference?...Hell yeah!...a full 3.6 sqcm per face!

Paint them with etch primer in your colour of choice. Sticks to the metal.

What's the best way to drill holes in my brake disk? I've been told the larger the hole the better the cooling effect on the disk?

I think we're going to have to start banning people who can't observe spelling protocol in this thread [:x]

Oxyacetylene torch will do the trick, but make sure you dip it in water as soon as you've cut each hole - it adds water cooling to your breaks.

Or a plasma cutter. Any rough edges are worn off by the break padds, so don't worry about those.

A mate of mine said he just did them with an old drill bit he had and came up with this:

Can't see why companies charge so much to be honest when you can do it yourself?

Apparently it won't brake the break pads so should be safe :)

Like the finish on those G-Man. Is that a can of oil as well, to help the pads bed in?

I use Cillit Bang or Cif - avoids the Seen Tax.

The oil is to stop to keep the surface temp of the discs down so in the early stage of bedding the pads in you won't warp the discs.

Yeah, I've had loads of problems with disks wrapping before - they go like tortillas. Would olive oil be better or can I use any vegetable-derived oil?
