Wow. Impressive power boost there Brooky. Im currently looking at getting a T4 myself, so this entire thread is really interesting.

How much of a job is it fitting a more modern TD engine from a T5 etc?

Brilliant results, I bet it feels great to drive

What are the wheels in that pic? They look like Mk5 Golf GTI ones? Any more pics? I'm after some replacement wheels for my T4 as I'm not keen on the current alloys so looking around for options. I was just going to get a set of standard steels and paint them black, but yours looks really good on those so now wondering... :)

    cheers

Yeah they are Orginal 17" BBS Monza's painted black fitted with 225/45/17 tyres V94 Rated.

make sure you fitted 94 or above for the load rating on a T4 , a big mistake alot of people don't realise.

i would also fit 55 profile if i had the chance to get a full set of new tyres too

Better fitting a TDI Engine its easier than a PD

There's loads of info on the T4 Forum on TDI Conversions ;)

Cheers, Brookster, much appreciated - they look great and noted on the tyre load rating.

Why would you fit higher profile tyres ideally, presumably to increase the gearing slightly? I'm not sure my standard 2.4D would have the power to pull higher gearing... That said, it's on 235/45/17's at the moment.

    Update -

RAKES (T4 Forum) PP3 Injector upgrade (IDI 2.4D Engine) information

    "Things to look out for.
The old injector needle is sticking, this can be seen by how the spray is not direct but rather moves around. also the injector is not atomising very well the spray is
more solid. It does get a bit better as the test continues and the reason for this is that more fuel is squirted through the injector on our tester than it would be from the pump so
the tester acts as a purging unit freeing the nozzle slightly." info from Rake

You can also see that the PP3 nozzle delivers more fuel.

the injetors should be with me over the next couple of days, don't think i'll be able to fit them and report back until after the holiday T:

Thank you to RAKE for the test video's

Rake will be doing a full thread on the new PP3 Injectors

He does a PP1 & PP2 Uprgade for TDI Engines 30+ bhp increase

Yeah all finished and running great

the van is now running 1.2bar boost pressure with max EGT's of 580deg need to get it on the Dyno as soon as i get to print to new power figures.

The Injection pump has now been rebuilt with a Hybrid LDA fitted for Fuel control under boost, the LDA is off a Toyota Landcruiser 3500 V6 . Just looking at aftermarker boost pin options.

my estimate is that its arround 160/170bhp & 240+ lb/ft

i've got arround a 1000mile on the rebuilt engine so the boost might get increased to 1.5bar which will lower the EGT's

cold air intake fitted in bumper to feed the air filter

Looking good Brooky!! I need to get my fuel pump and actuator arm tweaked on my 1.9td T4. Got a boost gauge now for it. Would like to fit an inter cooler too.

What do you think it will be running now with the mods? Gotta be way over the 102bhp of a standard 2.5tdi with the home brew turbo setup.

its was running 120bhp with the old head and injection pump at the Chipwizards RR Day Sambo organised .

now it feels like its pushing out well over 150bhp now with the PP3 injectors and Hybrid pump i need to get it back on the rollers , i'll wind the boost upto 1.5bar on the rollers.

Running 1.2bar at the moment and it feels like it wants more .

The 1.9TD's can be tweaked upto 150bhp @ 1.5bar with Golf GTD Injectors and LDA with modified boost pin Deako

Well had a hectic day today ,

Got the Veggie Powered 2.4D Turbo on the rollers , we achieved 143.4BHP @ 1bar with no smoke on idle or off boost at all which i'm very happy with that's 24bhp increase with the PP3 Injectors.

With regards to more power the answer will be to fit another boost pin so we still have the same fuel off boost but on Boost Wayne says it wants alot more fuel on boost the EGT's are only 520max .

if we were to increase fuel just with the Fuel screw we would end up with too much smoke off boost, so at the moment we've got a nice drivable set up running [:D]
