DTH Jenveys with 120mm trumpets which air box/socks

    Just wondering what socks/airbox will fit a mk2 using dth jenveys with 120mm trumpets?

    Cheers,I got some Piperx socks but they look like a poor fit and are very tight with the trumpets mouth

    Just cut them but they are also better with some wire mesh putting at the fronts so the middles ren't sucked out :thumbup:

    Them piperx individual foam socks are rubbish. Had them on my itb'd mk2 and they fell to bits...[:^(] I went for ITG after that and they were far superior.

    I don't think that design is best for power either compared to a large dome filter (if you can make it fit). Remember reading it somewhere...

    i ran ITG single filter socks.. they would last about a year before getting too rough and crumbly, about 15/sock way back when i used em

    out of intrest how do smaller trumpets and a airbox fair?

    If you can get a big airbox fitted all the better. If you look at the Lehmann engines in Golfs and Seats, they use a massive volume. Think it is something around 30litres of volume they use IIRC. They still have long inlet tracts though.:thumbup:

    thats the pipercross 600 airbox with some sort of recessed backplate to try and clear the fuel rails - some do, some dont

    Ah, they are like the one I have. As mentioned, the guy making them originally passed away, but if they're on the website now (this was years ago) they may have re-created them. There's the undrilled offset backing plate, needed depending on trumpet length, shown on the same page.

    Bonnet clearance will still be your main issue though.
