Even less room in a MK1.

On mine, it clears the water pipe, but brushes against the hose.
Maybe I have the backplate drilled a few mm lower than yours.

You can see on some of the pics how much needs to be relieved to clear the alternator.
    It's tight, but it'll go.

I used a 20mm spacer to gain fuel rail clearance - and even then the FR needed a wee tweak to fully clear.

shame the curved spacers won't work 'out of the box'. The problem for me is that once you buy 4 spacers and 4 of Bills adaptors you're looking at around 180 just to angle the trumpets down. Not the end of the world i know, but i wonder how much it would cost to have 5-10 sets of dth-specific, single piece curved spacers made up?

Is this something you could do Bill seeing as you've started on the adaptors? Could your current adaptor work be developed further into a single, neater solution?

I'm just thinking that that way the cost might be reduced and you'll have less joins and theoretically a smoother inlet.

inlet will be smooth on whats being done now.. so zero benefit

machining around corners is not something my cnc friend can manage

if someone was up for outlaying the doh, then getting moulds made and making GRP or CF airhorns would be the simpler answer.

I am just trying to put together options to use parts which are actually available
going tbodies and n/a tuning is not a cheap bang for buck game.

    I'm interested Bill...
I was going to try it myself, but since you jumped in first, it would be silly not to see how you get on.
If it works, I'll take a set.

    Hello:lol:

Casting thinner than 3mm is not easy, so cast items would be heavy(ish) But possible of course.
I dont know if you can spin metal into a compound curve like how the standard trumpets are made.
Composite I reckon really, theres no reason why you wouldn't?

Have a look at some of the "BMW E36 M3 throttle bodies" on ebay (the ones with the airbox included). They come with a curved air horn. Mat not be big enough depending on TB size but may be an option to design around.
