I'm getting sick of bbs splits, lowered = mint [xx(]

    anything else = sh1te [xx(]

Something needs to change or the scene will die a trajic death. The 'less is more' era needs to pass on and something else take over, i realy cant be arsed to travel 250miles to see 1000 mk2's with 15" bbs splits, g60 arches and single lamp grills.

Even my own car will be another typical late mk2, 15" sparco's, recaros and nice paint. Although i've got with sparco wheels and mk3 recaros i cant deny that I am also just one of the boring sheep doing whats already been done to death by 1000's of others [:^(]

    Any forecasts?

I think there was a lack of foreign dubs there this year which made things look a bit bland on the styling front.

Wahey, finally being different is gonna' be the trend. [:D]

If it means the end of that retro crap then good good.

Me? I like black cars, blacked out lights / windows, 16" wheels, slammed and interesting (that's yours, Rich) body bits and pieces.

    Still... Eye of the beholder.

  Agree totally 1990. I love a nice looking Mk2 but they do all look the same to me to a large extent. Europe is where it's at - lots of imaginative two-tone combinations and interesting interiors.

I was liking the small bumper MK2's at the show.

    IMO they look really good.

You dislike it.. i Really like it.

But at least he hasnt followed the trend,
I kept small bumpers when everyone was fitting big ones.

Now small are back in fashion.

    Good question!
    Hmm. Black Mk2 isn't it?

If it was mine, and I *know* hardly anyone will agree with my ideas:

Single lamp grille - but KEEP the badge. If you drive a VW, why hide it from people? I've never understood that.

I seem to remember yours has big bumpers. If it were mine, I'd prefer small bumpers with the chrome inserts, more contrasty. But I guess there's not too much you can do wiht big bumpers other than G60 arches. Wonder how it'd look with the big bumpers but no arch extensions. Hmm.

What's the deal with Mk2s anyway - they always seem to have big wide G60 arches but the wheels are tucked right under, making them look undertyred?! Don't get it. Go wide and small, euro style - but not to extremes. Fill the arches out nicely to give a good "stance".

Do some research - what other makes/models run the same PCD wheels? I bet there's an old Toyota or Mazda or something equally random that runs the same PCD. There's bound to be a wheel out there that suits, that ISN'T a BBS or Ronal or Porsche...

Two tone - not over top but something that is classy and will work well. Hmm, maybe the pillars and roof a metallic white shade?

Wipers - NO SINGLE WIPERS! I hate those. Keep two wipers but go scrapyard hunting and find/modify/adapt some from something else that look a bit sleeker.

OK so none of those are particularly original but hey, that just shows how difficult it is. If you can come up with something original you'll be breaking a VERY well-established mould! And that should/would be applauded.

You could always paint it beige, fit whitewalls to old-Beetle rims and stick it on airbags! Maybe some dark wood-effect fablon down the sides?

I'm working out my VW Van project at the moment. I haven't actually bought the van yet but I have a notebook full of ideas and sketches. I want to create something that isn't stupidly distinctive (i.e no murals on the boot or stoopid fast and furious graphics) but that people will look twice at. Subtle touches. A lot of scrapyard trawling and looking BEYOND the VW Scene (both water and aircooled!). It isn't going to cost a fortune, the investment is in the imagination, scrapyard trawling and research, not bling rims or mega expensive paint.

Very good point. Mk1, Mk2 and even Mk3 have been around so long now that there is very little that hasn't been tried in terms of styling.

The only room for new trends seems to be engines and transmission (i.e. the r32 mk2 at Inters).
