LOL! The quoting was just so you new what I was on about. Well done on the motor! If I was in the market, I would have bought it too. Have fun.
id say 3k is fair enough for that mk1 tbh... i got offered 3k for mine a couple years back, maybe i should taken it. nice one tim your gonna love it,and the track slag looks fantastic!
I wouldn`t bank on actually getting that mk1, the lad selling it might have been a "Top bloke" when you paid the deposit, but he`s a complete t wat. If someone offers a couple of hundred more than you`ve agreed, he`s liable to just give you your deposit back. He`s promised the car to a number of people and then went back on his word, so that in my eyes makes him a lying untrustworthy person. 1. Promised the car to a lad in Carlisle, he was going to take it up there for him yesterday, at an agreed price of 2800. My mate said he really wanted to buy the car, so he explained that he was taking it to Carlisle, but he`d meet my mate before then if he`d pay an extra couple of hundred s My mate said yes as he really wanted the car. 2. He dropped the lad in Carlisle in it with no thought whatsoever, fair enought though as its in his interest to get the best possible price for the car. 3. Mate is ready to go to Carlisle to meet him and buy the car, but the lad phoned to say that he couldn`t make it to Carlisle, but he`d meet him on the A1 at Wetherby today. Then phoned again to cancel, but said he could come down to view the car in Derby. Ok, not a major problem, Wetherby to Derby not too much further, so the arrangements were again made. 4. Phone call to say he`s sold the car, 1.5 hours in to the journey. Pity the t w a t didn`t let the auction run as my mate was prepared and ready to pay 4k for the car in one go, with no hassle paying a deposit and then collecting it later. Shame, as it looks a good car
You will murder a mk4 gti! Go race an R32! Not kidding. But after 100mph most things will pull from you.
cheers for your enthusiasm, have you met / spoken to the bloke? and also the fact i have the keys to the car and all the paper work v5 etc mots... leads me to believe different?! tim Edited by: Tim_mk2
Sat in the same room as my mate when he`s been on the phone to him, discussing mk1s for 3/4 hour. Sounded like a top bloke and very enthusiastic, so i thought great, go for the car, someone like that inspires a lot of confidence in buying a car unseen. You take a bloke on his word, i.e my word as a gentleman is my bond etc... At least you`ve got the keys/book etc. hopefully it`ll go right for you. Edited by: 16vn2o
i hope it goes ok too, i aslo have a written agreement with him, ill certainly let you know if it doesnt! tim
& if you decide you can`t get it insured, or you want rid of it, my mate will give you a tidy profit on it! Still think he`s pulled a cnuts trick though.
well if hes got all the documents and keys it looks a safe bet to me to be honest! unless he has made fake ones just for this purpose which i very much doubt. Good luck Tim
im not disputing that mate, dont hold it against me, [:^(] he got alot of interest in that car, i think he was quite suprised andm just tried to fit every one in to see it, some one was going to be disapointed / anoyed, cant help that, tim
with regards to insurance, at 20 i was paying 700 quid on my mk1 cabby with near 150bhp. That was on a classic policy with HIC, agreed value blardy blah.
cheers raggs, would i be right in saying a cabby would be more to insure anyway? will have to see how it goes, how old does a car have to be to be a classic? tim
Well done that on that!! Please dont go crazy on the exterior keep it how it is Helios blue is a lovely colour and it looks awesome when its standard with a nice drop. Mod the engine but, personally leave the exterior as it is.
cant mod the engine much more! (171 @ fly) just been through all the paper work, ive got 4471.85 in recepts! and also a signed blank cheque!!! tim
