Anyone know any history on the cars above? A customer of mine had one a while ago which he brought in from Germany (going back 7-8 years) and then sold on after having had the engine rebuilt as his girlfriend tried to use it as a shopping trolley, the pistons were kinda expensive!... anyway... I managed to get a drive round the block a few times and it was nothing like my 16V GTi, the torque curve was almost flat, never ending power to the rev limiter. Max'd it out at 146mph. It was nice to drive around as it was a real Q car, only folk who heard the twin whine from the engine and knew what that was turned around.... MG
VR6's have this to, well the early ones do for sure Sure the cars are limited edition, but i'd rather have my dream project than one of them, similar idea but more power and an older car and would end up about the same price.
Well said scottgroovez THAT is exactly the point ..... its a wolf in sheeps clothing.... i'd love to see the look on some peoples faces when that "cl" flew past them anyway ... each man to his own, some people like the racer look with big wheels, big bumpers etc etc... ...and some like the discrete looking weapon. Its a piece of VW history and anyone who appreicates the HISTORY will appreciate that car. Agreed that its not everyones cup-a-tea styling-wise, but its still goes like stink!
Yes but fancy driving around in what looks like a Golf CL!!!! Just kidding, actually like understated cars. Thing is these days with the number of big power 1.8T cars floating about that power output doesn't really cut it as a hardcore wolf in sheeps clothing. Besides - it is always going to be a car for the collector. Just think of what else you can get from the era for that kind of money: Delta Integrale UR/20v Audi Quattro E30 M3 Perhaps not as exclusive but all with real motorsport heritage(you can shop for specials if you want exclusivity) and much better imho! Exactly. Put it like this, would you rather the spec of those cars in a 3 door syncro shell with full G60 trim, bbs RM's and big bumpers, or have it looking like a 5 door CL with naff blue trim and a set of RM's thrown on? I know what i'd have!
is there a way around this trev??? or anyone else for that matter......could the brake servi be re-postioned or summit to allow this beast of a engine to fit a rhd uk shell mk2???
Me too!! 3 door with G60 trim and big bumpers EVERY time!!! Ltd = nice engine but the acutual car looks like a turd. History? Who gives a f**k, VW history has nothing to do with me same as i have nothing to do with it. (Although i agree with Andy he can still be a right dick head )
My so called turd looking car! is 299.1 bhp and would turd all over you Yes G6DUB and G6LTD did both belong to us, we now only have G6LTD and the curpa only stayed a month and was replaced with a 20vt mk1 Edited by: G6DUB
http://www.golfgti.co.uk/viewpastevents.asp?eventID=42 here you go a rolling road day, to see a vid of a Limited on the rollers click on Clair's Limited at the bottom
Put the alternator at the front, underneath the G-lader - as I have done. You don't have to angle grind that much to make it fit... honest
Yeah, I love some of the comments. To look at something as unique as the 16V Ltd and then say 'uh, but it's shit cos it dunt av big bumpas, man'.
