Blimey, that Aubrey chap aint wasting much time is he?! I wouldn't mind knowing how much all that is going to cost.
I didn't no. I was biding my time and angling for a good outright price above anything else. Plus as I don't have a garage I didn't have anywhere to store it.
I probably would have tried to buy it back at a decent price and then break it. Its worth more in parts, and buy the looks of it you would probably get good money for you doors wings bonnet, then you have engine seats lights. Even if you had to store the bits inside lol.
Not buying a car back for salvage is a mistake! As for that car in the thread linked to above, I haven't bothered to read through it but the reasons for getting that repaired must be sentimental and nothing else. Getting an ordinary MK2 shell repaired after damage like that is absolutely insane.
If I had a garage (or even a drive at a push) I would have bought it back. Stripping it for parts just wasn't possible as I literally have nowhere to put them. Besides, I really didn't want to go down that route, I would have rather stored it in a garage until funds allowed me to repair it. I thought long and hard to reach the decision, and I try not to think about it because I know the car will be in a cube or something now.
took a while to get through the salvage system - now up as a cat C in furbers!!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1990-VOLKSWAG...s_UK?hash=item1e587ae5ad&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
