Yes saw that a few hours after it happened on our tesla uk Facebook page Cars are covered by tesla if something goes wrong with battery
I'm no expert but I suspect a petrol fire is more dangerous than a battery fire and probably more likely to happen?
Depends on quantities and failure mode- battery fires are often left to burn themselves out, fuel fires are often tackled and extinguished in prototype vehicles.
In my nearest shopping centre they have a couple of chargers in the underground carpark, What happens if one goes up in flames under there?
It's the first one in 50,000 vehicles . They're not sure what caused it yet , could be a cigarette on the carpet for all we know . There's a lot of speculation ATM . How many Ferraris went up in smoke ? Same as any car fire in a car park I suppose !
How about this crash of a stolen model S My car according to my APP is Charging at 30 amps done in 1hr 49 mins Set on my drive according to live tracking Cabin temperature is 14.0 degrees C but I don't need to turn the heating on until 5 mins before getting in Had a bug with stereo software so just spoke to service who've done a wifi software update to sort
I know where you are coming from and yes, It could happen to anything. The problem i have is not being able to put anything on it and letting it burn out.
They ring the fire service and let them take care of it! There's a good few thousand litres of fuel in any given car park (complete with various sources of ignition) every time I come out of Tesco there's not that many vehicle fires... The risk is different, but not greater in my opinion, but people always fear the new or unknown. It wasn't that long ago all Porsche GT3 owners were being cautioned about their cars being mobile petrol bombs.
I *think* there's a specific type of foam used, unsure how this deals with thermal runaway events, when cell fires cause their neighbours to go up in smoke too (short circuits etc) E85 fires are an interesting one too - fire service never have it easy!
You'd better not drive it like you stole it then Very nice bit of kit though I was reading through the list of software updates which gets progressively more impressive as it goes along. I like the 'learned driving' parallels with the drivatar system on Forza.
Oooh no, you're wrong there, modern Lithium batteries give of oxygen when they are shorting, so they are self oxidising, usually from incorrect charging method. When they do go off, they produce a giant raging flare of oxygen rich flame, if this happened to an electric car, you'd end up with a molten pile of metal.
How about one of these for the kids lol
