Pretty stupid, but I'd have done exactly the same thing I imagine.

However, bearing in mind a recent prosecution based on 'forum' evidence
you might want to boast very slightly quieter in future. Feel free to
add me to your messenegr list ;)

    gota be honest,
im skeptical when comparing anything to a 420bhp car that hits 60 in 4.2secs.

ive driven a mk2 1.8T running around 270 bhp and it was incredibly fast for a small car with such a small engine.
ive also driven a 911 turbo and unfortunately i dont think any mk2 with a 1.8t is going to keep up.
you have to be very carefull how you control the throttle on them, as when the turbo kicks in you need to have your wits about you.
i drove one around a track once and it was just so unbelievably fast.
i can however believe that he wouldnt really want to push a 911 turbo to its full limits in a 30 mph zone, giving the golf the chance to keep up.

    [:$] ooops missed that bit.

having been in rich's car, I'm not sure. However if I was driving a 911 turbo (or anything for that matter) in a 30 limit, I wouldnt be thrashing the nuts off it, no matter what was trying to prove it was faster. I'd be quite happy to let a saxo "beat me" if in that situation...
