Gota say rich, your a t**t. Sum idiot not unlike yourself hit a pram with a
baby in it while it was being pushed across a road near me last month,
doing the same thing youve been doing you muppet. The baby died
instantly and ended up 50m down the road. Its tits like you that give car
enthusiasts a bad name. Im no saint but that kind of speed round town is
just stupid. Im not against a bit of street racing, but if your gona do it at
least keep it for the b roads and not about town. [:x]

Rich's is based on a fairly early driver I think, but with the heavier 1.8t engine. Carfolio lists two entries for the mk2 GTI 16v, the closest match I can think of, at 907kg and 960kg respectively for early and late models; the difference coming mostly from additional trim and sound deadening. I'd say 950kg would be a fair guess for an early driver converted to 1.8t. If its more than a tonne I'll be very surprised, and it'd still have the power to weight ratio of the porsche.

hmmm, interesting, ive been looking at some info on weights too. GVK's mk2 weighs in at 1040, now he's running a 2 litre 16v which is a heavy engine but not sure how it compares with the 1.8t. he's also got a stripped out interior and racing drivers seat though. i'm not saying your wrong but i always thought mk2's were around the 1100 depending on spec.

I'm comparing like with like as far as possible: Book values for mk2s are always around the low to mid 900s, but real world weights come up often as much as 100kg more.

The same is usually true to a greater or lesser degree with most cars I've had on the scales, and I fully expect the book value of the 911 is equally conservative; i'd put money on it being well into the 1600s on the scales when ready for the road.

The street is no place for racing, keep it to the track (if you dont blow it up again)
