    thats some excellent work there.

How come you chose Qpeng over the OEM system?

There's too much involved trying to get it running without it tbh.

The QPENG kit uses the OE ECU and I will be able to connect to it with Vag-Com.

This way I can do everything myself.

Ahh i see, so when its mapped, its done on the standard ecu via the diagnostic port.

I presume the MAF is used on the 2.0T kits then? As the 1.8T kits came without the need for one as they use the qpeng specific ecus.

The ECU is sent to QPENG, they map it and give you adjustable boost and throttle pedal sensitivity.
    Standard MAF is used.

It's totally different compared to the old 1.8t kit.

People have got TFSI engines running without it but it involves fitting most of the electronics from the donor car.

It will probably become easier to get these engines going in the future but this is the easiest option for me at the moment, saves me having to tow the car half way around the country.

fair enough, sounds like the most effective route.

I always fancied a 2.0T in my mk2, i need to finish the 1.8t first then see what my bank balance looks like lol

It's even easier in a Mk2, have a look at the QPENG site, there's a good guide and loads of info!

When a barely-fettled 2.0T in something Mk5 sized goes as well as it does, you have to wonder just how rapid this is going to be don't you? [:D]

When are you hoping to have it done? Looks like you're cracking on :)

Yeah it should be fairly quick alright!

I hate setting deadlines but I would like to be on the road by the end of June at the latest.

Almost have the hydraulic clutch conversion finished, must throw some photos up before I refit it to the car.

Cheers Eddie, if I can get the body and paintwork up to the standard of your Mk2 I'll be a happy man!

Thanks, updates are slow at the moment unfortunately due to impending house purchase.

So much for the June deadline, I have ECU and loom back from QPENG and I'm still gathering a few other boring but essential parts.

All going well it will have a new home for the winter where I can work on it without worrying about the weather!

Safe to say that's gonna be ridiculously quick. How will you fit any fans in there?

Yeah its fairly tight, it'll be a while before I decide what intercooler/rad and fan combo will be going in there.

I might try to have the intercooler under the rad or else side by side, I can't see it working any other way tbh.

Adam same with my MK2... I need 3 rads in there but the MK4 and MK3 condensers push the rad too close to the oil filter etc. Is there any smaller AC condensers out there with the VAG MK4 fittings on (ie to connect to MK4 AC pump) that will fit nice and snug under the slam panel between the sprinter cooler and the front panel or rad either or. Polo or something?

The MK4 one is just the wrong shape. A Toyota one is a good size but the fittings are totally different. Can't imagine custom aluminium aircon pipework is cheap

Just get the Toyota one and get the VW fittings welded on?

Know anybody who would do that? I suppose they are both just steel. The MK4 one has some kind of a a cylinder which I think could be drier. This is totally in the way of the OS headlight and could do with being moved if its needed
