    Looking good

great looking car, have you had your car noise tested at any of the trackdays you have attended? Just wondered if the Supersprint is noisey and how many dB's it was.

Love the wheel's I am on the waiting list with Compomotive for a set if they ever remanufacture them that is!

I found a big improvement on my car when i put the Eibach roll bars on, definitely better round the same track. I think my gf noticed too, eyes nearly popped out :)
Car looks fab btw, especially the wheels.

    Thanks peeps

Had the car tested at Castle Combe, static test, 4.5k rpm, 1m from the exhaust at 45 degree angle, recorded 93db which I was suprised about, thought it would be louder.

Thats the only thing I forgot to bring with me, I was going to bring the noise meter for people to have a play with, always worth knowing the static level for your car............ next time [:$]

    Quick spec is;

1.8 GU engine (out of a 1.8 Driver)

    Ported and polished head
Piper fast road cam (design for this engine, not a GTI)
Inlet manifold matched to the head
    4 branch Volksport manifold
    Weber 32/34 DMTL carb
    Jetex panel filter

Recorded 106 bhp at the wheels at TSR about 4 or 5 years ago, and recorded 120 bhp and 128 lb/ft at a local VW specialist last year, so still a strong healthy engine.

It will also come with the gearbox (8v GTI) plus all the linkages (I have a repair kit to renew all the bushes, etc) if need be as well.

I can PM you more details like all the work done (basically had a top end rebuild when I had the head done).

Got some new wheels (again) for it, I'll get some pictures up of them soon.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you, been really busy. Yeah still going ahead with the conversion, won't be at least until Jan/Feb time though as a few things have come up.

I'll pm you some more info later.

Well there has been a slight change of plan. I've recently purchased another car so the Mk2 had what will be it's last outing for a while at Donnington for Club GTI's final trackday of the year.

Had an awesome day again, despite the freezing cold and wet weather. Met some familiar faces and some new faces.

The car again was absolutlely faultless, although I did spin off at Craners, but that was due to the semi slick tyres and cold damp circuit and nothing to do with my lack of skill [:$]

Here are a few photos borrowed from other people.

The car is now uninsured and in the new year will be having a new engine fitted. In a way I feel a little sad to get rid of the current engine, it's been in there for over 6 years, covered well over 50k miles, now done 3 trackdays and 4 run what you brungs and it's never missed a beat, has been totally dependable.

There will be a few more changes as well, I want to fit a cage before I go on track again next year, and there will most likely be more chassis mods to keep up with the new engine, and I think I might have to get rid of the Compos as well.

    Needs more power!!!

stop faffing around and get your g60 turbo lump in, cant wait to feel what 270 bhp is like in a mk2 weighing way less than a ton, i'll show you how to drive it then!
