What an amazing job you have done. Most can only dream to achieve such a transformation. Well done!

Got to be worth a mag feature.

    What an amazing build thread.

As you said above "project that took a bit longer than planned",

... But well worth it!!! One of the best MK1 builds ive ever seen.

    Great work

@Toyotec - would i do it again? mmmm I had an opportunity to take on this type of a project and when i started i wasn't as involved in my work etc as i am now and life gradually got busier and busier and i got less time especially in the evenings to work on it - and as im a fussy person i didn't want to just throw parts at it - so i had a good shed with only my project in it so i could close the door and not panic about rent etc or other people needing the space - which was great... so i could finish it how i wanted - polish this and that and generally enjoy the whole experience! The people you meet when you do a project is great - made friends with quite a few like minded enthusiasts and had loads of people over to see it - great fun.

as i plan to hold on to the car - it may evolve in the coming years - maybe engine mods down the line etc... so i suppose rather than do another project like this i will just keep on top of this one and enjoy it - and develop it further as time goes by - i have a child due next month so it was finished in good time as i know life will get busier with the new arrival!

sorry that was a complete essay!!!! no one will have read that..... lol

thanks again for the positive feed back!

Fantastic to see this car finished. Huge fan of the project from the word go, and even when i didnt have any involvement in the "scene" as such for a while, i always checked back on this thread for updates. Superb finish, no corners cut - anywhere - and a total credit to all the hard work you have put into it over the years.

100% my favourite build thread on this forum.

I read it and I know exactly where you are coming from...
Perhaps this is something the lil one on the way will grow to appreciate in the years to come.

Just read the whole thread in one and being 17 and working i hope to own a mk1 golf maybe a 1.1c. I just want to put some individual wheels on it (maybe like yours or Tsw's) and slam it and enjoys the car although i can really see me taking my build to be way too far and go into resprays etc. I take my hat off to you as you and your car are truely awesome. Good luck with your little un' and hope to speak to you in the future :p maybe at a show or something :S
