Some more pics: New inner and outer rear arches When at the body shop we thought of just adding a splice onto the inner arch after removed the rusty edge but then after having a good look at the inner arch we decided to replace it. For anyone wanting to make a jig - easy You need 4 castors bout 50ft box iron (comes in 25ft lengths) bout 19 for the lot 1.5ft of angle iron 18 17mm bolts n nuts welder/grinder/cutter Cut your angle iron - 4 bits about 5 inches long Get your wish bone mounting brackets and rear axle mounting brackets - flip em upside down and mark the holes in the angle iron (refer to pics) Bore the holes and bolt them temporarily to the floor pan. Cut 4 bits of box iron to the desired length - enough to get power tools safely between the floor pan and frame without causing yoursel an inury! I choose bout 9" Then tack them on hanging straight down - get a spirit level. The rear one will have to be cut at an angle so it hangs down straight. Then cut your lengths of box to make a square between the four bits hangin down weld in place. Then unbolt frame and make all welds good. Get your castors and secure either by bolt or weld to each corner of the square. Then make 2 L shapes with a bit cut to brace the L diagonally (this is to support the car on its side - see pics) Bore three holes on the base of the L and do the same on each of the bits of box that run from left to right across the rear and front ends of the floor pan - secure the L's to this tightly! Then turn the car - get two folk to do this - one to lift and the other to guide the car down nicely without a jolt! Job done - cost me 31!

Its getting a standard rebuilt (engined stripped at the moment - head needs new guides) 1.8 16v on twin 45's dells and four branch - also custom rad made lower and wider to get fresh air to the trumpets! Here is the underside all sprayed up and lookin shiny! well chuffed with the way it turned out. Colour is BMW Sterling Grey - I had to choose a subtle colour that wouldn't age quickly as I intend to hang on to the car and don't want to be respraying in years to come! Yeah stumbled on the panel just by chance and there were two of them - a guy got one and told me about the other! Also my bro stumbled on brand new small rear lights - dated 1978 still in the box they were at a vintage show and he gave a tenner for em! Steal or what!

ATS Cups at the moment as the chrome/shiny bits on the BMW's really suits the colour and the ATS are pretty shiny rims... Going for chrome side strips but ordinary bumpers and I'm running with the arch trims - the black also goes well with it - as i don't want the arches chipped and stuff as I plan on driving it (hard) The work to the shell prior to painting wasn't hard to do just dirty and fiddly. Just wanted the shell to be right and solid from the start then hopefully no more hassle (heres hoping) I saved a lot of cash by doing work myself made it easier for the body shop guys
sounds good, tip with the side trims, get hold of some normal black side strips, soak them in paint stripper to get all the black off, with a bit of elbow grease and some autosol, they will look gr8. thats how i did mine.....
