Heres a video of me coming off the line at Golspie and then about 50 seconds in coming round the corner to go down the straight. There was a speed gun half way down the stright and managed to hit about 70 mph.

No i just made the trek down for Saturday but wise i had entered both days.

The class had 4 of us in it, Toyota GTI, Saxo, Clio Williams and me. The two guy's in the Toyota and the Saxo have been doing Forestburn for years and where 2 seconds ahead of me and the Clio. I started with a 59 sec run and finished off with a 56.44 on my last timed run, the clio managed a 56.05 :-( but i beat him on the first timed run by .3 of a second. The banter on the day was great, the guys are all up for a laugh and the whole class was only split by 3 seconds.

Off to Boyndie next weekend for the sprint.

Well thats the sprint and hill climb season almost over..
So the winter engine upgrade has started, had this 2 litre bottom end sitting around doing nothing so it getting overhauled and stuck in to see what it can do.

Can't make up my mind to stay carbs and move to 45's or just fit TB and stand alaone management..

Well its nearly time to hit the hills and sprint tracks again....

Well i had a change of plans over the winter months and have been busy getting the car ready for Doune in April.

Thanks to the Green Machine i have upgraded the 1.8 to a short block 2.0 with a better inlet manifold (Cheers Danny )

I was almost ready to fire the engine up today but the lack of a bit of pipe to extend the bottom hose stopped play.
Here is a few photos of the progress.
Engine in and all the ancillaries fitted.
Roland (sp) manifold sits lower with its better flow path, note i had to make up a fitting for the servo take off.
With the longer manifold and the need to be able to remove the filters for cleaning i made up some brackets to step the rad out a bit.
This works well and the top bracket is removable which allows the rad to tip forward enough to remove the filter.
You can see the bottom hose and the amount the rad has been moved.
Its a bit of a neat fit.

I also fitted one of Hotgolfs linkage kits (Cheers Mart )

Hopefully this will eliminate the gear change issues i had last year.
Hoping to get a bit of pipe tomorrow and get the engine running ready for setting up the carbs.

Dates for the Doune are 16th & 17th April.

    Engine pretty much standard..

Interesting to see an inlet manifold like that with potential to drill for 8 injectors. Somehow Rowlands passed me by

Does the car have to move out of production-based classes now, due to the engine block, or do the Scottish champs accept the USA-production 2.0 9A / similar?

    Good question!!

Last year i was up against a Rover 200 with a Judd 2 ltr on board in road car class:lol:
The rules for road car class used to be if it had a MOT it was road car. last year they binned that and applied the MSA rules. Which if you read the blue book are basicaly full trim, glass, no carpets and engine within the CC limits and a whole load of questions.
I don't think i will be getting anywhere near the Rover with my upgrade but i just want to do better times than last year.. (have a bit of fun)

I think 2 ltr MK2's are a little bit more common than Rover 200's with Judd 270 bhp engines..[:s]
