    Lee,

The calipers to suit 288x25mm discs will have "ATE" embossed on them and the ones for 280 x20 mm discs will be stamped with Girling or Lucas.
This post here describes part numbers for 288mm units.

You need the Girling/Lucas caliper/carriers with Passat/Corrado G60 280x22mm 4 hole discs and 16v/G60 hubs. This may mean a change of ball joint as well as these were updated in 87.

I didn't get a chance to look last night but you are correct I'll need to change the ball joints as I learned the hard way why I first got my mk2 that there are 2 different sizes[:x] I might as well go wide track while I'm at it(at least in the front) and get it all over with in one go.

i would either way if not been off, far easier to just take the lot off with ball joint still on than faff with pinch bolt and try to get the bugger to come out the bearing carrier

SEAT Toledo, Cordoba or Ibiza ABF is the best to use.

other than that seat/mk2 SPI/diesel fit, but nowhere for inlet temp or isv. can shove inlet temp in the hole in the front of airbox and put breather filter on isv

The idle speed valve, it comes with your ABF & is attached to upper part of intake manifold

So I might have sourced some 280mm calipers, so my next question is can I use the MC off a mk3 golf or even an Audi 80?

Different years of Audi 80 brakes have different spacings. Some of the older ones fit the Mk1 chassis cars, which have smaller spacing between the caliper bracket bolt holes.

The B4 cars ('92-96 I think) have the same bolt spacing as Mk2 golfs. I actually have a set of calipers and carriers on my 'spare' Audi 80 subframe setup, but I've never driven on them, and don't know if they're any good.

What brake bits do you need, or were you thinking of?

I'm not sure if you can use the master cylinder, as a lot of the B4 Audi 80s have ABS... the M/C might be different as a result, and might not be the right fit for a Golf - the Mk2 golf M/C is in a pretty tight space, so you need to measure up first, and make sure the pipe outlets are in the right place, etc.

I can measure and take pics of the M/C on my A80 TDI, if that helps. It has 'G60' Calipers and carriers, but with 280mm solid discs, and the wheel PCD is 4x108 on those, whereas the earlier ones are 4x100 (pre '91 I think, but check!)
